Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s ‘Panga’ hit the theatres on January 24. The movie starred Kangana Ranaut, Jassie Gill, Richa Chadha, and Neena Gupta among others. The movie didn’t have a great opening on Day 1. Film critic and trade analyst, Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter handle to share the Day 1 collection of ‘Panga’.

He tweeted, “#Panga records a low total on Day 1… Gathered momentum towards evening shows at select multiplexes, but occupancy at multiplexes of Tier-2 and 3 cities remained dull… Strong word of mouth should ensure growth on Day 2 and 3… Fri ₹ 2.70 cr.”

‘Panga’ is all about a mother’s struggles to make a comeback into sports and get a second chance in life to fulfill her dreams and aspirations. Kangana Ranaut plays the mother Jaya Nigam who is a Kabaddi player and the movie is about her comeback in the sport at the age of 32.

Bollywood Bubble reviewed the movie and wrote, “Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s presentation is a sweet and memorable tale which should be watched over and over by the people of our Indian patriarchal society.”

With ‘Panga’, Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor starrer ‘Street Dancer 3D’ also hit the screens but it hasn’t got good reviews from the critics.
