Pawan Singh Drops Cryptic Note On Suffering Amid Backlash

Television and regional film actor Anjali Raghav has publicly addressed the recent controversy involving Bhojpuri star Pawan Singh, clarifying that the viral moment captured during a promotional event in Lucknow was not consensual and left her deeply disturbed. Contrary to online trolling and memes suggesting she was enjoying the moment, Anjali asserted that she was, in fact, touched inappropriately by the actor.

Anjali Raghav Breaks Silence On Viral Incident

Taking to Instagram, Anjali posted two videos to clear the air and respond to speculation over her silence at the time. In her statement, she said, “Ram Ram Ji (Greetings). I want to share something very important with all of you. I have been very worried for the last two days. I keep receiving DMs asking why I didn’t say anything, why I didn’t take action, why I didn’t slap him. Some people are even blaming me, writing in memes, ‘She was smiling, enjoying it.’ Would I feel happy or enjoy it if someone touched me in public without my consent?”

Explaining her reaction during the event, Anjali said she initially assumed the discomfort was caused by something else, “I realised my saree was new and maybe the tag at the bottom was showing, or even the blouse tag could be visible. I laughed it off, thinking it could be adjusted later. That’s why I smiled and continued speaking to the audience. Later, when I asked my team member if something was there, they said nothing was. That’s when I felt very bad, I got angry, and even cried. But at that moment, I didn’t know what to do.”

She strongly condemned non-consensual physical contact, stating, “I absolutely do not support touching any girl without her permission. It is wrong in the first place. And to touch someone in this way is beyond wrong. If the same thing had happened in Haryana, I wouldn’t even have had to respond. The public there would have responded for themselves. But I was in Lucknow, not my own place.”

Anjali also announced her decision to distance herself from the Bhojpuri industry going forward, “I will not work in the Bhojpuri industry anymore. As an artist, I do feel like trying new things, but I am happy with my family and my work in Haryana.”

Pawan Singh Responds With Cryptic Note Amid Backlash

As the controversy gained momentum, Pawan Singh posted a photo of himself with folded hands, along with a cryptic message in Hindi that read, “एक कहावत है— जिस तन लागे सो तन जाने, कोई न जाने पीर पराई।” (“There is a saying—only the one who suffers knows the pain; no one else can truly understand another’s suffering.”)

This post followed massive criticism from the public, especially on social media, after the video showing the actor allegedly touching Anjali inappropriately went viral.

Allegations from Pawan Singh’s Wife, Jyoti Singh

Adding fuel to the fire, Pawan Singh’s second wife, Jyoti Singh, also took to Instagram to level serious personal allegations against him. Sharing an old photo with the actor, she accused him of emotional neglect and said he had been ignoring her calls and messages for months.

In her emotionally charged post, Jyoti revealed that Singh’s behaviour had pushed her to the edge, “I felt so alone and hopeless, I even thought about self-immolation. I kept reaching out for support—not just personally, but for political matters too. But he never responded.”

Her post drew further attention to Singh’s personal life, intensifying the public scrutiny he is now facing.

Here’s What Happened Between Pawan And Anjali

The incident in question occurred on Thursday during a promotional event for the Bhojpuri song Saiya Seva Kare. In the viral video, Pawan Singh can be seen touching Anjali Raghav on stage in a manner that made her visibly uncomfortable.

The video quickly spread across social media, with users calling out Pawan for his actions and demanding accountability. Many criticised him not only for his behaviour but also for bringing shame to the Bhojpuri film industry, which has long struggled with issues around image and representation.

As public pressure mounts, both fans and fellow artists are watching closely to see how the situation evolves, especially amid growing conversations around consent, respect, and accountability in the regional film industry.
