Amidst several controversies and setbacks, Kangana Ranaut starrer ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’ released on January 25. The movie opened with a decent number at the box office. It collected Rs 8.75 on Day 1 and on its fourth Sunday the movie has entered the 100 crore club. This is indeed great news for the entire team of ‘Manikarnika’.

While talking about her success as a debut director, Kangana Ranaut told Hindustan Times that commercial success makes her directorial even more special. ” ‘Manikarnika’ has been loved by people and it has done justice to the legacy of Laxmi Bai, that is a lot more gratifying for me,” she said.

Even Kangana’s sister Rangoli took to her Twitter handle to share the news saying “We as a team are thrilled that Kangana’s first directorial is a 100cr film”. Have a look at Rangoli’s tweet below.

After ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’, this is Kangana’s second movie to enter the 100 crore club. The film landed into controversy after director Krish and Sonu Sood’s walked out of it. Kangana took the responsibility of directing it and finally she made her debut as a director with ‘Manikarnika’.

‘Manikarnika’ revolves around the story of Rani Laxmibai and her journey as a daughter, wife, mother, queen and the warrior who fought against the British’s East India Company. The magnum opus also starred Atul Kulkarni, Suresh Oberoi, Danny Denzongpa, Jisshu Sengupta, and Ankita Lokhande in pivotal roles.
