As the sequel to the 2019 blockbuster Lucifer, L2 Empuraan explores the enigmatic character of Stephen Nedumpally. Another name for this character is Khureshi Ab’raam which is played by Mohanlal. The film delves deeper into the life of the man who controls a nexus that combats drug cartels. The movie also introduces Pranav Mohanlal, Mohanlal’s son, as a young Stephen in 1980s Mumbai. It sets up American actor Rick Yune as the new villain, leading the Shenlong ‘Shen’ Triad crime syndicate. Also, seen in the film are Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, and Abhimanyu Singh.
