Ajay Devgn and Saif Ali Khan starrer historical drama ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’ that released yesterday has been receiving good response from the critics, however, looks like the footfalls in the theatre are not as expected. Given the superstar status of Ajay Devgn, the opening day collection of ‘Tanhaji’ which is around Rs. 15.10 crores is quite disappointing.

Perhaps in the coming days, the collection graph of this film will witness an upward growth. Directed by Om Raut, ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior‘ is based on the life of Tanaji Malusare, who was the military leader of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, founder of the Maratha Empire.

Sharing the film’s opening day collection, film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote, “#Tanhaji exceeds expectations and posts healthy total on Day 1… Biz grew rapidly from post-noon onwards… Excellent in #Maharashtra [#Mumbai, parts of #CP and #Nizam circuits]… Glowing word of mouth should ensure solid growth on Day 2 and 3… Fri ₹ 15.10 cr. #India biz.”

The collection of this Om Raut directorial is expected to exceed on the weekend.

‘Tanhaji’ released alongside Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Chhapaak’. So obviously, the race at the ticket window is on. However, Ajay Devgn starrer is a commercial entertainer and ‘Chhapaak’ is a social drama, so naturally, the former has an upper hand.
