Aditi Govitrikar On How Violent Films Affect Human Minds

When asked do violent films such as Kabir Singh affect one’s mind and influence them to take a wrong step, Dr Aditi Govitrikar said, “100% yes, jaise that’s what I say; we human beings are what we eat and what we think. Abhi thinking kahaan se aati hai? Main koi cheez dekhoon, uske baare mein main sochoongi. Toh aap apne aapko kya feed kar rahe ho, whether it is through your mouth, or whether it is through your eyes and ears, ispe dhyaan dena chahiye.”

She added, “Again, it has become very evident ki agar aap constantly watch violent films or content, then even when you sleep, your dreams are violent. You will see that you feel angry, you feel aggressive, toh of course asar padta hai. Hamare agal-bagal mein koi banda ya bandi ho jo constantly irritated and annoyed ho, it will affect you. You can’t stay happy then. So of course it makes a difference.”

While Aditi Govitrikar only spoke about Shahid Kapoor, Kiara Advani’s Kabir Singh, several other Indian films have faced severe criticism for their bloody and gory content. The most recent films that were slammed for violence are Animal, KGF, GOAT, Maharaja, among others. This controversy also raised questions on filmmakers’ responsibility of portraying characters.
