EXCLUSIVE: Adnan Sami, Govinda’s Matching Outfits In Lift Karadey Was A Happy Coincidence? Singer Shares Trivia About The 3-Takes Shoot

Adnan Sami Khan is a singer, musician, composer, and pianist. He has performed in Indian and Western music in many languages. He has been awarded with Padma Shri (India’s fourth-highest civilian award) for his remarkable contribution to music. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Adnan Sami shared how Govinda came in for a special appearance while filming the Lift Karadey song.

Adnan Sami Shares An Interesting Story Of Shooting With Govinda For Lift Karadey

When shown a picture of him with Govinda from the song Lift Karadey, Adnan Sami said, “I was doing the video for Lift Karadey. I suddenly felt that this song is kind of the song that is borderline fun, and at that time, Govinda was at the top of his game and all of that. And, I mean, even today, he is untouchable. I thought then, wouldn’t it be amazing if, at the end, we tease the audience with a surprise appearance? And he would come out of nowhere and do this particular jig with me and then disappear. So I got in touch with him and he loved the song.”

Continuing, he said, “It was done in such a quick manner, he was already shooting somewhere. He called and said, ‘At 4 o’clock, I will drive by. I am in the middle of going to another shoot. So, I will drop in to do the thing, and I’ll leave. So, just be ready.’ I was like, okay! He was already well known for being late, so I wasn’t willing to take a chance, and I was like, set up all the cameras. And his car arrived, he came out of the car, and asked what’s the step? We rehearsed a bit and then went to shoot.”

Adnan Sami On How Govinda Rushed After The Shoot

The composer concluded, “We did it about three times, and in the last take, he asked his driver to start the car to leave. The moment it was cut, he got into the car and left. We didn’t plan on twinning in this song; it’s exactly whatever you see is whatever you see. There was no rehearsal; he came wearing what you see. He didn’t change or anything. We had already decided what to wear at his place, he just came shot and left, and mind you, the car was running. We did 3 takes in succession, he didn’t wait to see that shot as well.”
