Amit Sadh Opens Up On Bollywood Friendships
When asked about Bollywood friendships don’t last for longer, just until the project ends, Amit Sadh shared, “I, you know, like in mountaineering, motorcycling, or anything in life—there’s Grade One, Grade Two, Grade Three, Grade Four. I think, for me, friendship is the final stage—Grade Five. And I believe we should start from Grade One: courtesy and mutual respect. I feel that even if we just have that, it’s a great accomplishment. Look, I have nothing sour in me, you know what I mean? This city, Mumbai, has given me a lot. And what I’ve felt working with… well, since Jim and Manjari are here—I’ve done a film with Manjari, this is my first with Jim—I wouldn’t say Jim is my best friend. We’ve only known each other for two years.”
He added, “Maybe after five years, he and I will be close. But there’s mutual respect. I feel sometimes we give too much importance to Bollywood friendships. Then, just to dismiss them, we call them shallow. But we’re making a movie, we come from different thought processes, different backgrounds. It’s not necessary that we have to bond deeply. What matters most to me is this: even if you don’t offer me friendship, but you offer me courtesy if you acknowledge me when you see me, that, to me, is enough. Friendship takes time to blossom. It’s life.”
Manjari Fadnis On Bollywood Friendships
Adding to this, Manjari Fadnis said, “I don’t agree with the idea that in this industry we can’t have lasting friendships. You absolutely can, beautiful friendships that have lasted for many years, and they’ve really blossomed. Take mine, for example—well, I won’t name names, but I actually can name people. Like Mansi Pareek, we met in a competitive space—we were part of Channel V Popstars 2 together. We met as competitors, and to this day, we’ve remained really close. She is like a sister to me. I also did a film called Warning, and that entire team, we’re all still very close even now.”
