Anil Kapoor’s upcoming film Subedaar will not premiere directly on Amazon Prime Video, despite being associated with the platform. Instead, the film is set for a theatrical release first.
Anil Kapoor’s Subedaar Gets Theatrical Release Not OTT
As per Bollywood Bubble sources, “Anil Kapoor’s Subedaar is headed for a theatrical release—following a path similar to Superboys of Malegaon, which also premiered in cinemas before streaming as an Amazon Original. Anurag Kashyap’s upcoming film is taking the same route, theatres first and Prime Video later. It’s clear that Prime is leaning more into theatrical releases, but this won’t be the strategy for every title. The approach will be decided on a film-to-film basis.”
Set against the backdrop of India’s rugged heartlands, Subedaar tells the story of a man whose battles didn’t end with the war. Arjun Singh, now far from the battlefield, faces a crumbling society and a fractured relationship with his estranged daughter, played by Radhikka Madan. Haunted by memories of conflict and disillusioned with the system he once fought for, Arjun’s story is one of personal redemption, resilience, and revenge.
The action drama helmed by Jalsa director Suresh Triveni and has been jointly backed by Abundantia Entertainment, Opening Image, Anil Kapoor Film, and Communication Network Pvt. Ltd.
