Tridha Choudhury’s portrayal in Aashram turned out to be a defining moment in her career, pushing her into a new league of recognition and audience love. The Prakash Jha-backed series didn’t just amplify her screen presence but also opened doors she hadn’t anticipated. From seeing her posters splashed across Mumbai to receiving calls from production houses, the response was nothing short of surreal for the actor.
In an exclusive chat, Tridha opened up about how the success of Aashram changed everything for her, the confidence it gave her as an actor, and a hilariously awkward first interaction with Bobby Deol that eventually laid the foundation for a warm, playful bond. Read on to know more.
Tridha Choudhury On The Overwhelming Love After Aashram
Tridha candidly reflected on the unexpected wave of love she received after the series was released, admitting that it took time to truly sink in. “Aashram was something jaha pe mujhe malum nahi tha itna pyaar milega, like wo ek shock nahi hota hai- nervousness nahi, shock,” she shared, explaining how the reaction caught her completely off guard. “Jab release hua aur posters main Bombay mein dekh rahi hoon har jagah, fir calls aa rahe hai… publications aur production houses se bhi ki ‘you know we are thinking of a project’—so it was very overwhelming.”
Even as opportunities poured in, Tridha found herself questioning the reality of it all. “Mujhe kis tarah lag raha tha ki ye ho raha hai na, ye ho raha hai na,” she said, describing the disbelief that accompanied the sudden visibility.
The audience’s acceptance, she believes, became her biggest source of confidence. “Jab aapko audience se pyaar milta hai, tab hi aap aage badh paate ho,” Tridha noted, adding, “Aashram se mujhe itna zyada confidence mila that I am like, abhi toh peeche mud ke nahi dekhna.”
Tridha Choudhury Recalls Awkward Interaction With Bobby Deol
Talking about working with Bobby Deol, Tridha began with a laugh, choosing to recall what she calls a “mazedaar kissa” from their first meeting on set. “Pehli baar jab main mili set pe, jab first scene humara shoot hone wala tha… ek poora baba ka darbar dikhaya jaa raha tha,” she said, setting the scene for the moment that followed. “Maine nervousness mein ‘hi’, ‘hello’ bhul jao… maine unko seedha jaake bola, ‘Mujhe na Preity Zinta bohot pasand hai, aap unko bologe, I really like her,’” she revealed, laughing at herself for complimenting his co-star instead of him.
She admitted the moment left both of them stunned. “Wo thode der ke liye shocked the, aur main bhi shocked thi—ek awkward moment tha,” she recalled. However, that very awkwardness became the starting point of their bond. “Ussi se bonding nikli… unko laga ki main calculative nahi hoon, serious roles karti hoon lekin actually bohot easy aur jolly hoon.”
Tridha Choudhury On Playful Bond With Bobby Deol
From then on, the set atmosphere stayed light and playful. “Wo humesha meri taang khichai karte the—ki bata ab is situation mein kya bolegi,” Tridha said, adding that Bobby Deol appreciated her unconventional thinking. “Unko lagta hai main kabhi seedha nahi sochti, main humesha tedha sochti hoon.”
She also highlighted the creative freedom on the sets of Aashram. “Realistically, Aashram mein nobody was rectifying anybody,” she explained. “Sir ne hume maidan diya tha khelne ke liye, and we were just playing.”
For Tridha Choudhury, Aashram wasn’t just another project—it was a turning point marked by validation, confidence, and creative liberation. From processing overwhelming audience love to sharing unscripted, genuine moments with Bobby Deol on set, her journey with the series remains deeply personal and transformative. As she continues to evolve, it’s clear that Aashram didn’t just give Tridha visibility—it gave her belief in her own voice and choices as an actor.
