Ayesha Jhulka On Actors & Friendship
In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Bubble, Ayesha Jhulka shares an anecdote about friendship in the industry. She says, “Nobody really goes with intention ki bond banana hai ya yeh karna hai, uss time pe humara bada hi family atmosphere hota tha, saath me baithke khana, subah nashte pe saath baithna but humlog mostly saath mein baithke khaate the. Woh ek alag mahool tha, mujhe na sacchi me kabhi kabhi ghabrahat hoti hai ki, jabse yeh vans aayi hai aur mai andar baithi hu aur mera staff andar ghum raha hai toh haina… I mean, I feel bad but I tell them, ‘Please bahar jaake baith jaao,’ main toh andar sirf jaati hu just to change, but set ke upar sirf main hi baithi hoti hu, baaki sab aapi van me.” (Back then, we had a family-like atmosphere, sharing meals and spending time together. Now, with vanity vans, I feel uneasy sitting inside while my staff waits outside. I only use the van to change, but on set, I prefer being outside, while others stay in their vans.)
“Yaha pe log bolte hai ki dosti hi kyu banani hai, maine suna hai yeh bolte hue, so it’s not banani hai, bann jaati hai. Isiliye I always say, why are we connected still that if I meet any of my co-stars whom I have worked with, koi bhi ho, director, producer, staff, how are you going to know them? How will you remember if you don’t interact?” (People here say, ‘Why make friendships?’—I’ve heard this before. If I meet any of my co-stars, directors, producers, or staff I’ve worked with, how would I even know them or remember them without real interaction?)
On The Work Front
Ayesha Jhulka, after a successful career in Bollywood during the ’90s, has made selective yet impactful appearances in recent years. She made her digital debut with the Amazon Prime Video series Hush Hush (2022), where she impressed audiences with her performance alongside Juhi Chawla, Soha Ali Khan, and Karishma Tanna. She has expressed her interest in taking on meaningful roles that challenge her as an actor. While she remains selective about her projects, Ayesha continues to explore new opportunities in films and web series, embracing the evolving landscape of the entertainment industry.
