Chitrangda Singh Defines Comeback In Bollywood
When asked how she defines comeback to work from a break, Chitrangda Singh said, “I don’t, I think it’s because I haven’t done back-to-back projects. So people feel that if you’re off the screen for a while, and they’re used to seeing others doing one project after another, maybe it’s because of that. And to be fair, yes, I’ve done very little work. There’s nothing wrong with that. But you’re right—I’ve always been around. It’s not like I vanished and then came back. Yes, there was one long break and then a shorter break, of about a year and a half. But other than that, for the last so many years, I’ve been here. And yeah, I don’t know… I think we should just tell people: there’s no ‘comeback.’ I’m here, and I’m working. And that’s it.”
She added, “I know, you know—actually, seven years is a very long time. And because I had thought of being an actor, I felt like, what difference does it make? Even if I’m giving it up for my family, for my personal life, I’ll make this choice. And, you know, sometimes you make choices that feel very necessary in that moment. Maybe I could have managed both, but at that point, being that young, I don’t think I could have. So, that’s why I decided to leave work and focus on this. I don’t know about the fans, but I missed it. I started to miss the cinema. I started to miss being in front of the camera. There’s a kind of high that you get from performing, which I maybe didn’t realise while I was working.”
Chitrangda Singh Reveals How She Got Her Comeback
The actress said, “It was only after I gave it up that I began to understand. But the best thing is that the fans didn’t forget me or my work. They never did. I think that’s something I’m truly grateful for. So even after seven years, when I came back, I was getting calls for work. Farhan Akhtar’s production house was doing a period film, and they found my phone number—because someone had said, ‘You’ve changed your number now,’ since I used to get a lot of calls.”
She added, “At that point, I was managing some personal things, so I decided to change my number. But they found it, Farhan’s production team found my number, and that’s how I got in touch. Abhishek was directing that film. It was a beautiful period piece, though it didn’t work out in the end. But yeah, that’s how I decided to sort of come back to Bombay and start working again.”
