Actor Ashish Verma, who plays a key role in the courtroom drama Court Kacheri, recently reflected on the famous Damini dialogue, ‘Taarik pe taarik, taarik pe taarik,’ which sharply captured the slow pace of the Indian judicial system. When asked if things have changed since then, Ashish shared an honest and hopeful perspective.
Ashish Verma On Indian Judicial System
Ashish Verma said that while the judicial system still faces many challenges, it has evolved significantly over the years. Speaking to Bollywood Bubble, he said, “The judicial system, like any large institution, has its challenges, but it has also evolved a great deal over the years. With technology being introduced, processes are definitely becoming more streamlined, and access to justice is improving in many ways. Of course, there is always scope for things to move faster, but at the same time, we must acknowledge the scale and complexity of a country like India. At the end of the day, what keeps the system strong is the faith people have in it, and that is something that continues even today.”
Ashish added that it’s important to understand the size and complexity of India. With such a large population and diverse issues, expecting overnight changes is unrealistic. However, he believes that the most important strength of the judicial system is the continued faith people have in it.
