Supriya Pathak On Working With Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ram Leela

When asked about her experience of working in Ram Leela, Supriya Pathak said, “Fantastic. I really love and enjoy working with Sanjay ji. Sanjay Leela Bhansali, to me, is a great, great director — woh aapke andar jo capacity hoti hai, usse aur zyada nikaalte hain. Woh aapko push karte hain ki tumhare andar jo hai, usse bahar lao. Aur ek actor ke liye yeh bahut hi amazing experience hota hai. Toh mere liye bhi woh experience bahut kamaal ka tha. As a character, bhi shayad maine shuru mein nahi socha tha ki main iske saath kya kar sakti hoon.”

She added, “Lekin jaise hi humne initially kaam karna shuru kiya, mujhe realise hua ki yeh bhi kar sakte hain, woh bhi kar sakte hain. Phir woh character dheere-dheere grow hota gaya, aur Dhankor bahar nikal kar aayi. Toh mujhe lagta hai ki overall woh mere liye ek great working experience tha. As an actor, jab aap character building karte ho, woh ek special moment hota hai. Aur agar us waqt aapko aisa director mil jaye, toh woh sone pe suhaaga wali baat ho jaati hai. Toh mere liye definitely woh bahut hi accha experience tha.”

Speaking of working with Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, Supriya said, “Mujhe lagta hai aaj kal bahut lovely log hain industry mein. Main hamesha yeh sochti hoon ki jo young actors hain, woh kitne hard-working hain. Jahan bhi mujhe passion dikhta hai, main bahut impress ho jaati hoon. Mujhe lagta hai ki aise hi log hone chahiye. Deepika aur Ranveer — dono mein itna passion hai apne kaam ko lekar. Aur Ranveer ko dekh kar toh aaj bhi mujhe lagta hai ki woh ek bubble jaisa hai — pata hi nahi chalta ki usmein se kab kya nikal aayega.”

When asked if she was aware of Deep-Veer dating, she said, “Main in sab cheezon mein bahut dumb hoon. Mujhe zyada realise nahi hota. Main apne mein hi rehti hoon. Lekin woh dono saath mein bahut beautiful lagte hain. Aur unhone bahut khoobsurti se act kiya. Set par bhi woh bahut nice the. Toh mujhe wahi sab cheezein realise hui.”

Talking about how Deepika shot for the Nagda Sang Dhol song, Pathak added, “Yes, she used to get taped. She was taped all the time, because that dance was very tough. Bahut tough tha.”

Supriya’s FIRST Audition

Supriya revealed her first audition. She mentioned, “Maine apni zindagi mein, lagbhag 40 saal ke career mein, sirf ek hi audition diya hai aur woh bhi Sanjay Leela Bhansali ke liye, Dhankor ke role ke liye. Uske alawa maine kabhi koi audition nahi diya.”
