Dolly Singh Opens Up About Seeking Therapy After Getting Trolled Online
When asked about how body shaming online affects her, Dolly said, “It’s not easy. I think on my happy days, I feel like wahi face-less maggots. Ye kya bol rahe hain jobless people, inko kya mujhe farq nahin padta hai kya sochte hain. But then there are days where voh hit ho jaati hai cheezein, ya voh lag jaati hai, ya aapki purani soti hui insecurities jag jaati hain. As a woman, specially, some of these are things I have faced for so long ki voh ingrained ho gaye hain. You have those trigger words ki kisi ne kuch bol diya to voh shayad us moment ki wajah se nahin chubha, but voh itna baggage hai uska ki isliye voh chub gaya. To voh to definitely hai.”
She further added, “And I think I have toh started therapy because of the things that you get to hear on internet everyday. As a content creator you have to put out your work everyday. It’s like roz aap kuch bana ke exam dete ho aur result ka wait karte ho. Aur voh result kabhi-kabhi aisi cheezon se bhara hota hai jismein log aapko kuch bhi bol ke chale jaate hain, ya DMs mein kuch bhi bol dete hain. To voh kai baar manage karna mushkil ho jaata hai.”
Dolly On Dealing With Online Trolls
Dolly also shared how she deals with the hate online. She said, “So therapy and overall I think bonding with your friends. I think same profession mein friends hona bhi bahut important hai. So that you can discuss these things and keep telling each other ki yaar koi farq nahin padta, yeh sab paagal hai, inki baatein mat suno. But haan, voh lagti to hai cheezein. Sometimes you sim. I have cried over comments. I have questioned everything over like a one comment. Kisi ne bol diya to usi pe aap poori zindagi apni question karne lag jaate ho.”
Dolly Singh On Self-Hating And Self-Loathing
Speaking about moments when she feels insecure about her body, Dolly shared,“I have had moments where kisi ne kuch bol diya to mera fir voh phase shuru ho jaata hai when I’m like hating myself, hating my looks, hating my body also, because I used to do that as a kid. To voh ek pattern aapka ho jaata hai ki you fall back into your patterns of self-loathing, self-hating. And then to bring back that confidence becomes very difficult, you know.”
She further added, “And sometimes it also feels like on a human level, it’s like yaar chaar log mujhe yeh bol rahe hain, 10 log mujhe yeh bol rahe hain to hoga, zaroor hoga. Like yeh sahi bol rahe hain shayad. Kyunki majority hai, whatever, you know. To lagta toh hai. It is a bit difficult. It is like aapka result roz aata hai aur voh kaisa bhi ho sakta hai, to voh thodi dhak-dhak hamesha rehti hai mujhe.”
Dolly Singh gained popularity after starring in Thank You For Coming and Double XL.
