Kunal Kemmu Recalls Feeling Helpless and Not Knowing What To Do

Speaking about the similarities, Kunal Kemmu shared that parenting infants feels universal, regardless of circumstances. “At such a young age, babies are pretty much the same. All they do is eat, poop and sleep, and you have to burp them and change them,” he said with a smile, reflecting on the early days of fatherhood.

The actor also recalled an emotionally challenging moment from his personal life, remembering the first time his daughter Inaaya had a fever. Kunal described the experience as overwhelming for both him and his wife, actor Soha Ali Khan. “That feeling of helplessness and not knowing what to do is something I’ve dealt with in real life,” he shared, adding that the emotion stayed with him long after.

Sharing an interesting behind-the-scenes anecdote from the sets of Single Papa, Kunal revealed how director Shashank Khaitan approached a key scene involving a baby. Although the child wasn’t meant to be visible on screen, the director insisted on having the baby present during the shoot. “Shashank felt that doing the scene with the child there completely changes the rhythm of the moment, and he was right,” Kunal said.

Through Single Papa, Kunal Kemmu brings a mix of realism, warmth and lived-in emotion to the screen, drawing from his own experiences as a father to make the story feel honest and relatable.
