EXCLUSIVE: Gippy Grewal Admits He ONLY Approached Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions To Distribute Akaal In The Hindi Belt; Says, “Innse Better Aur Kuch Nahi Ho Sakta”

Rupinder Singh “Gippy” Grewal” is an Indian actor, singer, film director and producer whose works in the Punjabi and Hindi film industries. He made his acting debut in the 2010 movie Mel Karade Rabba, followed by Carry On Jatta, Lucky Di Unlucky Story, Bhaji in Problem and others. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Gippy Grewal says it was the right decision to approach Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions for Akaal.

When asked if approaching Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions was the best way to reach out to more audience, Gippy Grewal said, “Bilkul kiuki jab humne yeh film shuru kari thi tabh humaare mann main tha nahi ki hum isko shayad Hindi bhi karenge. Toh humain banate banate aisa laga ki yeh film bahut achchi ban rahi hai, aur film bani, jab edit chal raha tha tab mujhe laga ki yaar yeh ek right film hai. Agar isko Hindi main laya jaaye toh uske baad bhi mere mann main aise tha agar Hindi mein lekar aayenge toh aise kisi ke saath bhi le aao. Kiuki fayda kya hai ki agar aapki film ko aage banda pohocha hi nahi sake. Maine kahi aur attempt hi nahi kiya, sidha yahaan pe aagaye Dharma ke paas.”

Continuing he said, “Toh unke saath baithkar discussion hui, aur unhone bhi trailer dekha aur bola ki humain lagta hai ki humain yeh film karni chahiye. Toh then we decided, baithe film bhi dekhi. Abhi jab unki team ne film dekhi toh unko bhi aisa laga ki yeh ek bahut right film hai. Agar right tarike se isse pitch kar diya jaaye, right promote kiya jaaye yeh ek woh film hai jo box office toh hota hi hai uske bina yeh aapko ek respect dilaati hai.”

Concluding, Grewal said, “Toh unka khudhka bahut mann bana iss film ko dekhke toh humain bhi laga ki hum ache production house ke saath jude hai, aur yaahan pe aake collaborate karna tha. Toh mujhe lagta hai ki Dharma se better aur Kuch nahi ho sakta, aur Karan (Johar) sir ne humain bilkul bade bhaai ki tarah humain treat kiya aur bahut hi achche se film ko produce kiya. Mujhe lagta hai isse better aur kuch ho hi nahi sakta.”
