Indira Krishnan On Experiencing Casting Couch With A South Film Director
When asked if she has ever faced the casting couch culture prevalent in the industry, “Absolutely, maine yeh feel kiya hai, not just once but many times. Especially, main yeh nahi kahungi ki yeh Hindi ya Mumbai mein zyada hua, but South mein hua. Main ek bahut hi bada project ke liye finalise ho gayi thi by a big filmmaker. Aur humare beech kuch differences of opinion regarding the project. Main bilkul ready thi, but last moment pe, jaise hota hai ek chhoti si baat ne poora rishta bigaad diya. Sirf ek line, ek statement ki wajah se sab kuch khatam ho gaya.”
She continued, “Mujhe yaad hai maine socha, ‘No yaar,’ maine aankhein band ki aur bola, ‘Shit, yeh film bhi haathon se nikal gayi.’ Jab main ghar aayi, maine unhe ek message type kiya, kyunki jis tareeke se woh baat kar rahe the, unki body language, expectations kaafi badh gayi thi. Aur uske saath pressure bhi badhne laga; mujhe laga main situation handle nahi kar paa rahi hoon. Mujhe laga, ‘Kal se shoot shuru ho jaye aur agar yeh rishta kharab ho gaya to?’ Toh maine bahut decently kaha, ‘Sir, main apna talent bechne aayi hoon, apne aap ko nahi.’ Shayad mere words thode harsh the, but mujhe laga jitna clear rahoge, utna hi better hota hai. It helps you stay in momentum, aapki energy build hoti hai, aur aap aage badh sakte ho.
Indira Reveals Why She Shifted To TV
The actress concluded, “So yeh pehli baar nahi tha, maine yeh situation kaafi baar face kiya hai, aur kuch really good projects is wajah se lose bhi kiye hain. Tab maine television ki taraf shift kiya. Not as a fallback option, but genuinely mujhe laga ki as an artist, main khud ko explore kar rahi hoon, apna talent dikha rahi hoon. Aur doosri baat yeh thi ki mujhe waha bhi utna hi respect mil raha tha. Haan, maine suna hai ki TV mein bhi kaafi kuch hota hai. But I think uss time hum sabko kaafi kuch face karna padta tha.”
Indira Krishnan will be next seen in Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana. She will play Kaushalya, the mother of Lord Rama.
