Ishika Gagneja On Being A Part Of Dangal

Recalling how her journey with Dangal began, Ishika spoke about how her father first came across the casting call and how the audition process unfolded. She shared, “Mere father ne Mukesh Chhabra Casting Company ke Facebook page par ek casting requirement dekhi thi ki Dangal ke liye wo teenage ladkiyaan dekh rahe hain. Toh unhone meri profile bhej di thi. Phir unhone audition ka clip maanga tha. Maine aur meri chhoti behen ne woh poora Geeta-Babita wala scene karke bhej diya. Phir unhone humein Mumbai bulaya aur yahan par humare auditions hue, joh Aamir sir, Nitesh sir, Mukesh sir ne khud liye. Hum log ke liye bahut bada shock tha, kisi ko bataya nahi tha ki Aamir sir aa rahe hain. And when he came, everyone was in awe, and then we performed the scene right with him.”

The actress continued, “Then humari pehelwani classes hui, that didn’t work out, but they said we want to test you for another part in the film.”

Ishika Gagneja Recalls Sweet Moment With Nitesh Tiwari

Ishika recalled an encounter with Dangal director Nitesh Tiwari, saying, “And then after the audition, they told me I was locked for that part. Toh jab main set par gayi, Nitesh sir ne mujhe phone par mera hi audition dikhaya aur bola, ‘Yeh kar do, same to same, yahi chahiye hume.’ Uske baad jab humne scene shoot kiya, Nitesh sir said, ‘I’ve gotten everything, but ek director ka mann lalchi hota hai. Ek aise karo jaise aap karoge, if you were in this girl’s position, do whatever you would have done,’ and I think that’s the scene he put.”
