Janmashtami EXCLUSIVE: Abhishek Sharrma Recalls Fond Festive Memories With Grandmother; Says, “I Would Love To Experience One Of Those Days Again”

Abhishek Sharrma has been winning appreciation for his performance as Devansh, the male lead in the ongoing show Vasudha. The actor has brought a strong and natural touch to the character, and his performance has helped him connect with the audience. As Janmashtami is being celebrated, Abhishek opened up about his childhood memories of the festival, the Krishna teaching he follows in his own life and the side of Kanha that he relates to the most.

Abhishek Sharrma Recalls Fond Childhood Janmashtami Memories

For Abhishek Sharrma, Janmashtami has always been an important festival at home. Looking back, he feels that the festival was never only about the scale of the celebration, but more about the emotions and togetherness that came with it. He says, “Janmashtami has always been a big celebration at my home. It has always been a festival that I would enjoy so much. There are so many sweets that my mother prepares every Janmashtami. We go, we visit every temple, and we wait for Krishna’s birth, and we are awake for the whole night.”

He continued, “It’s a great celebration. So, I think growing up, it was more about the feeling than a big celebration. There was something special about that day. The whole city would be lit up, everyone would be in a festival mood and there would be so much excitement around midnight. That feeling when the whole family was together was very special.”

When asked if he could relive one Janmashtami from his childhood with someone special, Abhishek Sharrma immediately thought of his grandmother, who is no longer with them. He fondly remembers the sweets she would prepare for the family and wishes he could experience one of those celebrations with her again. He shared, “If I could spend one Janmashtami with someone from my childhood, I would choose my grandmother because she’s not with us anymore.”

Reliving the memories, he continued, “I remember she used to make Panjiri, sweets and Peda for all of us. So that would be something that could obviously have happened, and I would love to experience one of those Janmashtamis with her again, like as a child and without all the responsibilities and noise. I think going back to that simple feeling of being with family would be very special.”

Abhishek: Every Side Of Shri Krishna Connects With Me

The actor also spoke about the lesson from Krishna’s life that he has tried to apply personally. For him, it is about doing one’s karma honestly without allowing the final result to control one’s state of mind. Abhishek Sharrma feels this becomes especially important in a profession like acting, where several things are beyond an actor’s control.

He shared, “For me, it’s the idea of focusing on your karma rather than constantly worrying about the outcome. That’s something I’ve genuinely tried to apply, especially in my work. There are so many things in the profession that are not completely under control, and in life as well. How anything works, what the outcome is, you can’t control that. You can’t control how people perceive you or what opportunity comes next. What you can control is how honestly and wholeheartedly you do your work and live your life. So I try to focus on that and not let that result decide my state of mind.”

While every side of Krishna has its own significance, Abhishek Sharrma says the strategist in him connects the most with Krishna’s ability to understand people and situations. He believes that as people grow older, they learn that reacting to everything is not always the answer. He said, “I think every side connects with me, but if I had to say, I’d say the strategist. Not because I am always strategic, but because I find that side of Krishna very fascinating. He understood people, situations and timing incredibly well. He knew when to speak, what to speak, when to stay quiet, when to fight and when not to.”

Abhishek further explained, “As you grow older, you realise that life is not always about being the loudest person in the room or reacting to everything. Sometimes it’s about understanding the bigger picture and choosing your response. It’s not about jumping into something. I think that’s something I relate to quite a lot.”
