Karan Tacker Recalls Spending 8 Years Clearing His Father’s Debt
Talking about his father’s business debt, Karan said, “I also applied for a job because I’m a management student from Bombay, so my salary at that time what I was getting was either 27,000 or 30,000 rupees a month which was a lot of money in the job sector. But agar mein 30 hazaar rupay ki naukari se karna shuru karta, 2.5-3 crore ka debt tha, matlab mein koshish bhi karta toh mein pura nahi kar paata.”
He further added, “My father who’s been a businessman for 30 odd years was working with somebody or working under somebody so it was a very difficult, it was a very testing time for the family and maybe comes and sounds a bit privileged to say that you know my father had to do a job but it is difficult. As an adult of two children when you’ve had a business for all your life and suddenly working under somebody can be very testing you know, for a man or for a woman. But we all got our shit together and we all worked really hard.”
Karan Tacker On Earning Money To Repay Debt
The actor also revealed spending many years paying off the debt. He revealed, “I remember for I think about a good 8 years, whatever money I made, I was only paying the debts of the of the business and somewhere after 8 years or 9 years, I repurchased the house that we had sold. Just because sentimentally for me that was my father’s first property in Bombay and I didn’t want to not own it. It’s a building called Indra Lok in Lokhandwala, that’s the house that I grew up in so we were on rent in it for a very long time and then we bought it and then we had to sell it you know so it was weird.”
Talking about the house he bought, Karan said, “So I just wanted to buy that, and you know my dad and I, we both bought it together at a stupid amount of money, but I just wanted to own it. Today, if I look back at it and let’s say if I had to disconnect emotions from it, I would have rather taken all that money, put it in equity and earned a 20% odd profit like over this period of time instead of putting it in real estate. So that’s how I look at it now.”
Karan Tacker was last seen in Bhay: The Gaurav Tiwari Story, Special Ops 2 and Tanvi the Great.
