Recently, Rupali Ganguly demanded National Awards for TV actors as well, and now Kritika Kamra commented on the same. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, the Hush Hush actress revealed not being aware of the distinction between Bollywood celebs and TV actors. Scroll down to read below and watch the interview.
Kritika Kamra On Distinction Between Bollywood Celebs & TV Actors
When asked if Bollywood actors and TV celebs are treated differently, the actress said, “Mujhe khud lagta tha ki yeh jo bade parde aur chhote parde ke actors ka distinction hai, yeh mujhe pehli baat toh pata hi nahi tha for the longest time. Aur mujhe lagta tha ki yeh sirf ek jo hum drawers mein organise karte hain na, uske sorting out ke liye bola jaata hai—ki chhota parda, bada parda. But actually, uski respect bhi us hisaab se kar di gayi hai.”
Reflecting on the recent demand for National Awards for TV actors, Kritika Kamra said, “You know, Rupali Ganguly recently said. I think somewhere, I was seeing some clip of hers (again, you can see how online I am). Unka ek clip aaya tha jahan pe unhone bola ki ‘television ke liye koi National Award category kyu nahi hoti?” Okay, theek hai, yeh bhi aapko bata dega… kyunki television pe acting ko craft nahi maana jaata.”
What Was Rupali Ganguly’s Statement?
Rupali Ganguly has recently advocated for the creation of a National Award category specifically for television actors. Following the 71st National Film Awards in early August 2025, Ganguly publicly voiced her disappointment. She reflected that TV actors and shows are overlooked by the prestigious awards. Rupali emphasised the tireless work of TV artists, particularly noting that they continued to shoot non-stop during the COVID-19 pandemic. She requested that the government consider and validate their hard work. After her statement, director Sooraj Barjatya supported her demand. He agreed that TV is an art form that deserves equal respect and recognition at the National Awards.
Kritika Kamra was last seen in Saare Jahan Se Accha: The Silent Guardians and is filming Matka King.
