She plays the role of Vandana opposite John Abraham in the film. She revealed that this character marks a significant departure from her previous on-screen portrayals.
Madhurima Tuli Opens Up About Her Character Kajal Singhania
Madhurima Tuli shed light on her character Vandana in John Abraham starrer Tehran and how it is different from her past roles. In conversation with Bollywood Bubble, she said, “In Tehran, my role is quite different and fresh compared to my past roles. I’ve done fictional characters like a warrior princess or maybe a cop. But here, since it’s based on true events, I’m playing a real-life character. Not inspired by anyone specifically, but it’s so relatable.”
Tuli portrays the wife of an army officer, a character she describes as deeply rooted in reality and filled with grace and resilience. “They go through the reality, and it’s quite painful. The kind of grace and strength they have is commendable,” she said, reflecting on the emotional depth of the role.
When asked what drew her to the project, Tuli was clear about her reasons. “Tehran, the whole setup was so strong, whether it’s my co-actors, the production house Maddock Films, or the storyline. It’s based on true events. Everything was very good. So I had no reason to say no to it,” she explained. “And when I heard that it’s opposite John Abraham, I immediately said yes.”
With Tehran, Madhurima Tuli promises to bring a grounded and powerful performance, one that resonates with the quiet strength of women behind the frontlines, often unsung, but never unnoticed.
