Mohammad Nazim On Pay Disparity In TV

When asked about the pay disparity in the TV industry, Mohammad Nazim said, “Bhaiya, uspe maine abhi itna socha nahi hai. Sach bataun toh hai na, kyunki har ek insaan ki apni-apni journey hoti hai. First of all, hai na? Aur bahut saare log aise hote hain jo, abhi jo aap baat bol rahe ho, because kuch shows aise hote hain. Kyunki aaj ki date mein agar shows chalte hain toh woh TRP ka zamaana hai.”

Continuing, the actor said, “Aur humne yeh cheezein nahi dekhi. Humein bhi aisa laga tha, even main aur Vishal, maine bataya tha last time bhi, maine shayad baat share ki hogi aap logon se jab hamara show shuru hua tha toh mujhe lagta tha ki yaar, yeh jo show hai na, hum kaise karenge? Lekin woh show aise chala ki matlab jo humne socha bhi nahi tha. Toh humein kabhi bhi na toh aisa laga ki yaar yeh koi competition hai, na kabhi aisa laga ki yaar humein kisi cheez ki kami hai. Woh show humne banaya hai.”

Concluding, he said, “Mujhe lagta hai yeh sawaal unko poochhna chahiye jinke 2–4 shows karne ke baad, 5 show karne ke baad, unke shows chale hi nahi. Bahut saare log aise hain. Humne toh jo show kiya tha, yaar, woh bahut chala, 8 saal chala hai na aur 8 saal bahut badi journey hoti hai. Uske baad Saathiya 2 bhi kiya, woh bhi 2 saal chala, I think 2–2.5 saal chala. Phir maine Tera Mera Saath bhi kiya, woh bhi ek saal bahut accha chala. Toh mujhe yeh cheezein nahi pata, phir woh kaise hoti hain, kaise nahi… I have no idea. Exactly, main sach bataun toh mere hisaab se.”

About Pay Disparity In The TV Industry

Pay disparity in the TV industry is complex. But recent trends show a positive shift towards equal or higher pay for female actors on TV compared to men. It is a significant development in gender equality in entertainment. Historical pay gaps persist in the industry, and pay is often determined by experience, talent, and commercial viability, and not just effort. While women are making strides in the industry, especially on TV and OTT platforms, the industry continues to be a male-dominated space.
