Nushrratt Bharuccha Admits Being Bad At Managing Finances

When asked about how she manages her finances, Nushrratt Bharuccha said, “Oh God, I am not very good at it, but I am not very bad at it. I will give you both. I think very early on, I just decided on ki mujhe mahine ka kitna paisa kharcha chahiye. What are my absolute basic needs? I kept it at a figure, and everything that came above that figure was sent to investments aur to sent to savings. Straight account mein paisa hi nahi aata tha. Mere accountants are instructed to just directly send that money to my wealth advisors, and then they like put it in the… and put it into whatever.”

She added, “Main koi superhuman nahi hoon. It scares me. It scares me because my father is close to 70 now, my mom is 62, meri daadi is 92, and they are all around me. All three of them. Toh khuda na khaasta kuch bhi hua kahin bhi… I need to have that backup, the backup, the pool of money to get to support them, to get through those treatments and medication, whatever is needed. Jo bhi ho, kuch bhi ho sakta. But I have to take that responsibility on. Toh main bata rahi hoon, maine na apni duniya chhoti kar li hai. Jaise bahut matlab main kaise aapko bataun ek chalo I will tell you from the beginning thoda.”

Nushrratt Bharuccha Reveals Drinking ONLY Water In College

Speaking about her college days, the actress said, “I used to go to Jai Hind College, theek hai from Juhu. My dad was not leading a good financial life, and he was cheated in his business. Toh bahut saari cheezein hui thi. And ab ladki ne admission liya hai Jai Hind mein toh matlab jaana toh hai hi. Ab kya karein? But I was very conscious ki papa ke paise spend nahi kar sakti hoon, apne paas paise nahi hai. Toh woh mentality thodi hai jo ladkiyon mein I think bahut zyada awareness bhi rehti hai. Aap manoge nahi maine mere college ke 90% of the days. Main paanch saal gayi hoon Jai Hind College, I used to spend Rs 8 a day, Rs 8 din ka mera kharcha tha sirf.”

Nushrratt Bharuccha On Travelling To College

She added, “Actually, nothing, only two things. I would walk out of my house, take a 231 from my bus stop Juhu to Santa Cruz station, iske 4 rupay lagte the. Get off at Santa Cruz station. Eklauta kharcha papa ne liya tha, woh pass bana diya tha meri railway ka, uska mujhe paisa nahi dena padta. Station pe utro, dabbe mein baitho, Jai Hind College pahuncho. Churchgate station utro, walk to college. Poora din college mein classes attend karo, din spend karo. Come back in the evening. Wahi train, Santa Cruz station, bus lo 4 rupay se ghar aao. So bus ke jaane ke 4, aane ke 4.”

The Dream Girl star said, “The only thing in Jai Hind College which was free that did not have to be paid for was water. Water coolers lage hote the. Mujhe subah se raat, bhukh lagti toh main paani peeti sirf. And how could this… and aisa nahi hai ki my father would not give me money or not. I know woh mere andar baith gaya tha ki paise bachane, paise bachane hain.”

Nushrratt Bharuccha On How She Spent Time In College

Speaking about missing things during her college days, Nushrratt said, “I missed out on a lot of things. Aur there was once, I remember, Bandra mein ek really nice restaurant that time newly opened at the time. There were my friends, at least 12 of them. They were having, they were from lunch se baithe hue, and they wanted to have a sundowner and whatever. Main ghar pe thi Juhu mein. Ab main calculate kar rahi hoon, Juhu se Bandra jaane ka 60–70 toh rickshaw ka lag jayega. Phir utna hi wapas aane ka lag jayega. But ghar pe toh baithungi toh bore ho jaungi. Doston se toh milna hai. So I went to that whatever get-together.”

Further adding, “And I sat there, and I didn’t even have the money to order. Main ek fresh lime soda order kiya, aisa nahi tha ki mere paas paise nahi the, but woh mere zehen mein baith gaya tha ki kharch nahi karna mujhe. I want to save it. I want to save it. Because main apne paise nahi bana rahi hoon. And I don’t want to waste it like this. So I sat through the entire dinner without ordering anything while everybody around me was eating, drinking, and having a good time.

Bharuccha said, “And I will tell the funny part was it of it was I had a smile on my face when I said yaar kisi ko nahi pata hai li mujhe bhukh lagi hai. Maine wahan bhi sirf paani piya hai. And I have come home and I have said, there will be a day when I will be able to afford all of this without thinking about anything.”

Nushrratt Bharuccha On Her Conditioning

Nushrratt Bharuccha concluded on her finances conditioning, “Isliye aaj na agar aap mujhe jeene ko bolo na, main dil khol ke jeeti hoon. I don’t look at the price tag of things or the bill for things. Maine kaar karte hain but woh ek baar aata hai. Woh roz nahi aa sakta. Kyunki meri conditioning hi nahi hai. I am not conditioned to spend money to that level. So when I started making money, I came from that Rs 8 a day, drinking water all day, not ordering anything because I wanted to save the money and keep that money for a rainy day. Because I didn’t know when a rainy day would come, to suddenly become an actor and earn money, and suddenly there is money coming in.”
