Rajendra Chawla On Casting Couch In The Industry
Speaking from personal experience, Rajendra Chawla made it clear that he has not encountered the casting couch directly. He said, “Maine toh aisa kuch nahi dekha, agar casting couch ki baat kare aur galat istemal ki baat kare toh ye kaha nahi hota.” He explained that exploitation, unfortunately, exists in many sectors and not just the entertainment industry.
Drawing a comparison with corporate environments, he added, “Yaha toh kam se kam itna hai ki aap pe koshish ki jayegi, aap mana kar de, next, next, itna sab kuch available hai aapke paas.” He elaborated on how options function differently in other workplaces, saying, “Offices mein kya hota hai 4 ladkiya hoti hai aur 25 mard hote hai, aur wo 25 ke 25 mard chahte hai ki woh aapke saath jude.”
Rajendra further highlighted the pressure dynamics in corporate sectors, stating, “Waha toh option hi limited hai… agar aap na karo toh us level mein demotion hota hai, aapko chhala jata hai, fir aapke kaam mein mistake nikali jaati hai.” According to him, such sustained harassment and professional punishment are far more damaging.
Sharing why he feels the entertainment industry offers comparatively more agency, he said, “Humse buri buri paristithiya hai corporate sector mein… woh kam se kam yaha toh nahi hota, itne saare options available hai.” He concluded firmly, “Agar aap sahi hai toh aap bach ke nikal jayenge.”
Rajendra Chawla’s comments bring a nuanced, experience-driven angle to an ongoing conversation, urging people to examine exploitation across industries rather than isolating the issue to a single space.
