For actor Arjun Bijlani, Raksha Bandhan has always been a festival rooted in emotion, warmth, and a deep sense of family. While many see it as just a day to tie a Rakhi, for the Bijlani family, it’s a yearly celebration of unconditional support, childhood memories, and lifelong bonds. As we celebrate this special day, the actor exclusively talks to Bollywood Bubble about the festival, his memories related to it and more. Read on to know all she shared.
Arjun Bijlani: I’ve Always Had That Protective Streak
When asked what Raksha Bandhan means to him, Arjun Bijlani stated, “It’s a day that reminds us of our roots, traditions. Growing up in Mumbai, we were surrounded by cousins and raised with strong family values. The festival brings back those happy memories and reinforces the importance of staying connected.”
Speaking about his younger brother Niranjan, Arjun opens up about the close bond they share. He shared, “Niranjan is extremely grounded and independent, but I think everyone likes to feel cared for. I’ve always had that protective streak for him, and he knows I’ve got his back—always.” Although the actor didn’t have a biological sister, he never felt that absence. He said, “As a child, I may have felt the gap briefly, but our cousin Rohini has always been like a sister to us. Over the years, that bond has only deepened, and Raksha Bandhan is the perfect reminder of it.”
His brother Niranjan recalls a fond ritual from their celebrations. “Every year, even though we didn’t have a real sister, we’d play the song ‘Phoolon Ka Taron Ka’ for Rohini. That became our way of making her feel special—it was tradition, and it meant something.”
Arjun: Raksha Bandhan Is About Celebrating The People Who…
The essence of Raksha Bandhan now continues with Arjun’s son, Ayaan. Arjun Bijlani shard, “Neha (Swami) and I have always shown him the value of family through our actions. He sees us prioritizing our bonds, and naturally, he’s picked up on that. He loves spending time with his cousins, especially the girls, and looks forward to Rakhi each year.”
Ask him what makes Rakhi so special for Arjun he shares, “It’s the feeling, the togetherness. It’s about celebrating the people who protect you and whom you protect in return. That’s why it’s not just about a brother-sister bond—it’s about family, loyalty, and love in all forms.”
Raksha Bandhan, for the Bijlani household, is a reminder that family goes beyond labels—it’s about emotional connections that grow stronger with time, and passing those traditions on to the next generation.
