Rakul Preet Singh Breaks Silence On Bollywood Actresses Being Working Mothers

Rakul Preet Singh addressed the stereotypes Bollywood actresses often face after marriage—especially the assumption that motherhood must follow immediately. In a candid conversation with Bollywood Bubble, she questioned who creates these stereotypes, emphasising that neither her family nor her husband’s family has ever imposed such expectations. Rakul highlighted how today’s leading actresses—Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, Kiara Advani, and even veterans like Kajol—continue to balance their careers and personal lives on their own terms. She believes modern women have broken past outdated boundaries. Scroll down to read what she said and watch the full interview.

Rakul Preet Singh Breaks Silence On Bollywood Actresses Being Working Mothers

When asked if life has changes for her post marriage, and whether people question her on balancing her personal and profession lives, Rakul Preet Singh responded, “Kaun karta hai stereotype? Na toh mere ghar mein kabhi kisi ne kiya hai, and I think na Jackie ke ghar mein kisi ne kiya hai. Everybody has been working, they’re from the industry — and I feel, kyun sunna hai na logon ki aaj? So many people have defied it today. Alia Bhatt, the biggest star, is a mother, and so many others — whether it’s Deepika, Alia, Kiara, Kajol ma’am — they’re all still working. I think women have crossed that boundary.”

About Bollywood Stereotyping Actresses Working Post Motherhood

Bollywood has been known for stereotyping or sidelining actresses after they become mothers, often limiting their roles and opportunities. However, in recent years, there has been a noticeable shift as leading actresses are challenging these outdated perceptions. Today’s stars are actively redefining the narrative, showing that motherhood is an integral part of their lives and not a barrier to their professional achievements.

This evolving mindset is supported by a growing trend of co-parenting and shared responsibilities with their partners, making it more common and visible within the industry. Modern Bollywood actresses are emerging as symbols of strength, resilience, and change, inspiring women everywhere to confidently balance their careers and motherhood without feeling the need to apologise or compromise on their ambitions. This shift not only reflects a broader societal transformation but also paves the way for a more inclusive and empowering representation of women in Indian cinema.
