lip fillers, nose job, surgery culture, saiyami kher, bollywood actors,

In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Saiyami Kher opened up on the pressure of actors undergoing nose jobs or lip fillers and the social media commenting culture.

Saiyami Kher Opens Up On Nose Job Or Lip Fillers

When asked if there is pressure on only actresses to undergo corrections, nose job or lip fillers, Saiyami Kher said, “Sirf actresses pe? No, I feel it’s actors, actresses—everyone. I feel if someone is not comfortable and happy with the way he or she looks, and they are okay with doing things [to change that], by all means, you should do it if that’s going to make you feel like a better, happier person. But you can’t get so affected by what the world thinks—that’s my opinion. Because you can’t… some people told me I needed to get a lip job done because my lips weren’t full enough. They said I should get a nose job too.”

Continuing, she said, “But I’m okay. I like my lips the way they are—I have no problem with them. This is unique to me. Otherwise, everyone will end up looking like a factory-made product. You are made a certain way, and that gives you your authenticity. So I feel that we should just breed a culture where there isn’t so much insecurity. It shouldn’t become a thing of insecurity. It should be more about—
Is this person’s performance touching me or not? It’s not about whether the lips are big or not. It should be about whether the performance is touching me or not. So I feel it’s always about that.”

Saiyami Kher On Commenting Culture On Social Media

Speaking about the commenting culture on social media, such as surgery gone wrong, she said, “I would never do it, because like I said, I’m very secure. I’m someone who believes in letting everything be natural, to the extent that I won’t even take medicine unless there’s a real need for it. I like to keep things as natural as I can. I’m someone who always promotes being happy with who you are, finding security and comfort in yourself. But if there’s somebody who feels otherwise, and that person feels they’ll be more confident doing something [like a procedure], then by all means—it’s your life. I’m nobody to judge.”

The Ghoomer actress added, “About the comments and videos that come out, I feel it goes back to what we were talking about earlier—it just gives too much of a free hand to anyone to say, ‘What is this?’ or ‘What is that?’ Often it’s someone who’s probably sitting there—maybe an unhealthy person who’s never exercised in their life—passing comments about someone who is actually in good shape. What I’m saying is, it has become like—it’s my right. I have Instagram and a phone, so I can say whatever I want. Which I feel is a little incorrect and insensitive.”

Saiyami Kher Wishes For More Positivity

Concluding, she said, “I don’t know, but Ananya Panday still does that positive thing she’s known for. Because at least she was trying to spread positivity using social media. At least someone with some influence was trying to do that. And I just feel, I wish more people came out and did more positive things. Like The Better India, they do many positive stories. It’s heartening to see so many people doing so many good things in the country. So I hope that spreads a little more.”
