Sharad Kelkar On Actors Being Typecast

Speaking about whether actors should actively try new roles to grow, Sharad Kelkar shared his honest perspective, saying, “Dekho, agar aapko grow karna hai as an actor, toh zaroori hai ki aap alag-alag kirdaar karein, alag-alag roles karein. Aur audience bhi aapse bore nahi hogi—kyunki agar aap hamesha ek hi cheez karte rahoge, toh kuch time baad public naturally bore ho jaati hai. Of course, yeh bahut logon ke saath hua bhi hai—woh similar kind of roles karte rahe, aur phir aage kuch khaas hua nahi.” Emphasising growth, Sharad highlighted how experimentation not only challenges an actor creatively but also keeps audiences engaged and curious.

Concluding on a reflective note, Sharad’s thoughts underline a larger industry shift where versatility, reinvention, and creative risk-taking define longevity. In an era of rapidly evolving content consumption, actors who challenge their own boundaries and embrace varied roles are more likely to remain relevant, respected, and connected to audiences over the long run.

Sharad Kelkar is now part of Z TV’s serial Tumm Se Tumm Tak and is also currently seen in Netflix’s Taskaree starring Emraan Hashmi.
