Director-Producer Suneel Darshan and Akshay Kumar have worked in 7 films; their first film was Jaanwar. Their bond was strong and they have given hit films in Bollywood. While promoting his upcoming film Andaaz 2, the filmmaker sat for an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble. He praised the actor’s nature and discipline, calling it a key reason to work with him.
Suneel Darshan Reflects On Working In 7 Films With Akshay Kumar
Speaking about collaborating with Akshay Kumar for 7, director-producer Suneel Darshan said, “Dekhiye, saatvi film ka naam Dosti tha. Shayad usmein hamara jo relationship tha, jo bahut hi strong bond tha, woh reflect hota hai. Saat saal tak woh is office mein raha. Saat saal yahin se operate karta tha. Subah aa jaata tha jab bhi woh shooting nahi karta tha. Aur ek aisa connection tha, matlab relationship itna gehra tha. Main toh first day se hi uska bhala hi chahta tha.”
He recalled their meeting and shared, “I said, ‘My God, this is such a handsome, gorgeous-looking boy!’ He was a very humble Punjabi boy, jaise humare humility wale boys hote hain. And besides that, there was one more thing about him: he had the reputation of being a very disciplined person.”
About Suneel-Akshay Bond
Akshay Kumar and filmmaker Suneel Darshan shared a strong and meaningful bond in the early 2000s. Darshan was instrumental in reviving Akshay’s career by casting him in Jaanwar, a turning point in the actor’s journey. So deep was their professional relationship that Akshay had once promised to do 100 films with him. However, their last project together was Dosti: Friends Forever in 2005.
