EXCLUSIVE: Tanishk Bagchi Compares Today’s 15-Second Reels To ‘Trailer And Ads’; Calls Out New Singers Saying, “Arijit Singh Ke Alawa Kaun Tik Raha Hai Aaj Kal”

Tanishk Bagchi is a music producer, composer, singer and lyricist in Hindi films. He is known for tracks like Vaaste, Bolna, Ve Maahi, Aankh Maarey (recreated), Dilbar (recreated), Jehda Nasha (recreated) and Lut Gaye (recreated). In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Tanishk Bagchi opens up on reels’ 15-second trending on social media and composing music.

Speaking of how a 15-second reel trend is going on social media has become a brief for music composition, Tanishk Bagchi said, “But main isko thoda alag tareeke se dekhta hoon. Jaise school mein hota tha na, Colgate wale aate the aur chhote-chhote pouches dete the try karne ke liye, woh sample packs. Idea yeh tha ki bachpan mein free mein doge, toh bacha bade hoke wohi toothpaste kharidega. Toh mere liye reels bhi waise hi hain. Reels are just a small hint of what’s coming. Agar aapko full gaana sunna hai, toh aap wahan jaake sun sakte ho. That’s the basic concept of reels, it’s like a trailer, ya ek chhota ad.”

Adding further, “But abhi logon ne us concept ko change kar diya hai. Ab toh kachra bhi aa raha hai — kuch reels bilkul bekaar bhi hote hain. Main personally reels pasand karta hoon, lekin jo reels culture ko hi bigaad rahe hain, unka main kabhi support nahi karta. Pehle jo Instagram ka reel concept tha, woh sirf ek chhoti publicity thi — ek teaser type thing. Jaise pehle chhoti-chhoti ads hoti thi cinema ke beech mein, ya TV ke breaks mein, wahi model tha. Us concept ka matlab yeh tha ki dekh ke aap product ya content ke liye jaao. Simple. But unfortunately, logon ne usko twist kar diya. Ab ek alag hi culture ban gaya hai, aur upar se woh jo asli intent tha, woh kahin kho gaya hai.”

Concluding, the Chor Bazaari Phirse singer said, “Batao na, Arijit Singh ke alawa kaun si naye singers ki awaaz sach mein tik raha hai aaj kal? Kyunki log ab basic practise karna hi bandh kar diya hain. Na practice karte hain, na singing mein woh dedication dikhta hai. Jo zarurat hai, woh yeh ki basics pe wapas jaana padega. Sirf kisi gaane ki copy karke gunguna lena gaana nahi hota. Gaana seekhna hai toh foundation strong karna padega. Usko waqt dena padega.”
