Eklavya Sood – who essays the role of Amarjeet Arora in Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s The Bengal Files, has delivered a raw but impressive performance. While the film continues to create a stir worldwide with its narrative, Bollywood Bubble interacted with the actor and got candid about several things, including whether he was aware about the film’s entire narrative, knowing about Direct Action Day, his prep for he role and lots more. Scroll below to read snippets of what he said.
Eklavya On Knowing About Direct Action Day Before TBF
When asked if he knew about Direct Action Day and the Noakhali riots before signing the Vivek Ranjan Agnohotri’s The Bengal Files, the actor admitted, “I wasn’t fully aware.”
He continued, “Sadly, our school curriculum didn’t talk about it, whether it’s ICSE or CBSE. We study the French Revolution in class 8, but not Direct Action Day or the Bengal riots, which are part of our own history. That’s heartbreaking, because these events shaped so much of our present. For me, this film wasn’t just about acting—it was also about discovering and acknowledging a forgotten chapter of India’s past.”
Eklavya Sood On His Research For His The Bengal File Character
While pointing out that the makers of The Bengal Files stated that they did extensive research about the 1946 Great Calcutta Killings and the Noakhali riots, we quizzed Eklavya about how much researched about the riots and his character. Answering us, the actor who plays Amarjeet Arora said, “My character and Bharati’s character are the only fictional ones set in this pre-Partition timeline. That gave me the liberty to create Amarjeet’s backstory—what brought him to Kolkata, how he thought, and how he carried himself. “
He continued, “Luckily, the script had Amarjeet very well fleshed out already—his philosophies, motivations, and inner conflicts were clearly defined. My job was to embody that with honesty.”
