vardhaan puri indepedence day

As India celebrates its 79th Independence Day today, actor Vardhaan Puri opens up on this significant date in India’s history, present, and future. He worked as an assistant director for the films before acting.

Vardhaan Puri On Independence Day And Its Significance

Speaking to Bollywood Bubble, the actor said, “To me, independence means freedom in thought, speech, and every element that shapes the human experience.”

The Puri family marks 15th August with both celebration and service. Every year, his parents, Rajeev Amrish Puri and Dr. Meena Rajeev Puri, organise a medical camp in association with the Rotary Club of Bombay Airport and the Cine Artists Association (CINTAA), once led by Vardhaan’s grandfather, Amrish Puri. “It’s our way of supporting the technicians, workers, and artistes who bring stories to life and inspire billions across the world,” he explains. A traditional flag hoisting is also part of the day.

Vardhaan On Shaheed Bhagat Singh

Vardhaan’s greatest inspiration is Bhagat Singh. “His fearlessness, resolve, and acceptance of martyrdom at such a young age -without a trace of regret- define true heroism. Portraying him on screen is something I dream of every single day,” he says with a voice trembling with emotion.

His message to India’s youth is hopeful yet grounded: “We are fortunate to be born on this soil- powerful, united, and capable of creating change. In the next five years, India will only grow stronger. I’ve seen the world, but there’s no place like home. With focus and unity, we can take India to its rightful position and become number one forever. The secret is to be rooted to our culture and proud of our heritage.”

Bhagat Singh, Vallabhbhai Patel, Subhash Chandra Bose, and Bal Gangadhar Tilak are on his dream role list. “Playing them would be an honour for they are the heartbeats of our history,” he said.

Vardhaan is currently filming for Nautanki. Details of the project shall be unveiled soon.
