EXCLUSIVE: Vartika Singh Reflects On Social Media Trolling; Reveals ‘People Judge Models Who Come Into Acting’

Breaking into Bollywood isn’t always easy, especially when you come from a modelling background. But Vartika Singh, who recently impressed audiences with her performance in Haq alongside Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam, is proving that talent speaks louder than labels. While the film continues to receive praise, Vartika is also opening up about the challenges she faced, including social media trolling and the stereotypes attached to models entering cinema.

Addressing online criticism, Vartika shared her calm approach toward negativity. She said to Bollywood Bubble, “Not shocking… but definitely funny sometimes. People online can judge you without knowing a single thing about your journey. But I don’t attach my self-worth to it. I’ve learnt that you can’t take praise too seriously or trolling too personally. As long as the people I work with respect me, I’m okay.”

She also spoke honestly about how the industry often underestimates models transitioning into acting. Vartika admitted that assumptions are common, saying, “People definitely judge models who come into acting; they assume you can pose, but you can’t feel. But honestly, I never tried to ‘fit’ a particular image. I’m not someone who can pretend to be glossy every second of the day. I like being simple when I’m not working. I like being quiet when I need to be.”

Despite the doubts some may have, Vartika believes her debut film has given her the chance to break stereotypes. She added, “I’ve never been asked to tone anything down… but I’ve definitely seen the hesitation in people’s eyes when they hear ‘model.’ Which is why I’m so grateful my first film lets people see me beyond that tag.”

With confidence, grace, and a grounded mindset, Vartika Singh is charting her own path without trying to fit into anyone else’s expectations.
