Vikram Singh On Favouritism In The Industry

On asking if he has faced any favouritism or bias in the film industry, Vikram replied, “Wahi main aapko abhi keh bhi raha tha ki mujhe na zyada samajh aata bhi nahi hai. Agar ho bhi raha hoga, toh I would be someone who would be the last one to catch it. And shayad yeh ho sakta hai ki after TV mujhe kaafi time tak call nahi aaya for auditions, you know, jab main willing, woh break le raha tha aur jaa raha tha for introduction to different production houses, aur unko bata raha tha ki bhai main bhi ek actor hoon. And main chaahunga ki aap mujhe apni Vaibhav Films ke liye try karein.”

The actor further added, “Toh thoda time toh laga mujhe, lekin ab woh kya, is wajah se laga ya main ready nahi tha, isliye laga, woh mujhe idea nahi hai. But haan, over this five years, in this past five years, maine bahut mehnat kari hai apne craft pe. Maine bahut saari workshops li hai. And I can visibly see that difference in myself as a person also. Toh main toh yeh believe karna chaahunga ki main shayad ready nahi tha. Aur ab thoda zyada taiyaar hoon”

Vikram Singh Weights In On Deepika Padukone’s Ask For Lesser Working Hours

When questioned about whether actors are sometimes overworked and if their work hours should be reduced or managed in a less exhausting way, he said, “I think not just for actors… actors toh, mujhe aisa lagta hai, ki sabse aaraam wali zindagi jeete hain set pe. Unko toh tab bulaya jaata hai jab unka shot ready hota hai. Jo entire unit hoti hai, jo crew hota hai, jo director hote hain, jo DOP hote hain, unki jo team hoti hai, lightman hote hain… ye log toh… matlab kahin-kahin pe toh woh lunch ka time bhi nahi milta hai. Hai na? Woh in-between breaks bhi nahi milte hain.”

He further stated, “Toh I think unke liye, I feel more ki thoda sa shayad kam ho sakta hai shooting hours. Aur agar 12 ghante hain, toh 12 ghante mein khatam ho jaaye fir. Haan, fir khatam ho jaaye. Ya fir 12 ghante mein it should be like a job. Agar aap start kar rahe ho subah 9:00 baje, ya jo bhi aapka working hour hai, toh aap usko ek time period ke andar khatam kar do. Aisa ek surprise nahi hona chahiye ki kab tak chalegi, pata nahi.Hum log toh kya hai… hamara jab shot ready nahi hai, toh hum toh vanity mein baithe hain.”

He added, “Apni kitab padh rahe hain, ya apna kisi se phone pe baat kar rahe hain, ya apne character pe work kar rahe hain. Khali hai na? Rest hi kar rahe hain na. Toh actor ke liye toh bilkul bhi aisa nahi hai. Mujhe lagta hai kuch hai…”
