Vishal Pandey Mouni Roy

The recent incident in which Mouni Roy was harassed during a wedding performance in Haryana has sparked a broader conversation about celebrity safety and personal boundaries at public events. The actress walked off stage mid-performance after facing inappropriate behaviour from men in the crowd, a move many from the industry have supported. In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Vishal Pandey praised Mouni’s decision and explained why safety should not be gender-specific. Read on to know all he shared.

Vishal Pandey Stands In Support Of Mouni Roy

Reacting to the incident, Vishal Pandey immediately voiced his support for Mouni Roy and said she handled the situation exactly how she should have. “Kudos to her, it was a good decision to just walk off. Showing the middle finger was also a good decision, because it was bad,” he said firmly.

He further stressed that conversations around safety must include everyone, not just women. “I’ll be very honest, I’m all up for women’s safety, and I want everyone, not just the government, everyone to come together for everyone’s safety. I don’t want to specifically say children and women.”

Vishal Pandey On Facing Harassment

Sharing a personal experience, Vishal Pandey recalled an uncomfortable moment from one of his own public appearances. He explained how people often overlook harassment when it happens to men. “Just because I’m a man, I didn’t create an issue. I was at some event and 2–3 aurtein peeche se aayi, mujhe ghumaya and they kissed me on my cheek. I felt bad, theek hai? But I was like, chalo theek hai, let go kar dete hai. But maine socha, agar mere jagah koi ladki hoti, toh ye cheez kitni alag hoti.”

He pointed out the double standards attached to such behaviour and added, “Why jab koi aurat merko aake kiss karke chale gayi log haske keh denge dekho kya fandom hai? This is wrong. It’s very awkward, trust me. Agar koi aadmi aisa kare toh woh brutally wrong hai, toh ye bhi toh brutally wrong hona chahiye. Safety for everyone honi chahiye. Thoda common sense sab mein hona chahiye, kisi ki privacy, character aur boundaries ka respect karna zaroori hai. And regarding Mouni, I think she did fantastically good. Usko wahi karna chahiye tha.”
