Zeeshan Ayyub On Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Films Propagating Violence

When asked if it’s fair that Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s films propagate violence and if such films should be made, Zeeshan Ayyub said, “Yaar dekho, yeh na thoda complicated sawaal hai. Main agar imaandari se bolun, kyunki isko na seedhe haan ya na keh dene se wahi wali baat, kuch hoga nahi, sirf controversy uthegi, aur log naam pe aa jaayenge. Par main thoda sa aapko jawab dene ki koshish karta hoon ki main kahaan se aa raha hoon. Baat yeh hai ki dekhiye, banane pe koi rok toh hai nahi. Theek hai? Aap banaiye, koi problem nahi. Mujhe dikkat tab hoti hai jab aap uske criticism pe gussa karte ho.”

He added, “But now you are doing the same thing, right? It reflects your personality. Bhai, main jo hoon woh dikhana chahta hoon. Aap kuch bhi bolo, kuch bhi, kharaab se kharaab cheez, ki bhai main is cheez pe film banana chahta hoon. Theek hai, banao. Ek aadmi Hitler pe film bana raha hai chalo, sabse easy example le lete hain, jiske upar toh koi problem nahi hoti na. Hitler ke upar film banana chahta hai ek aadmi, aur woh bol raha hai bhai Hitler bahut kamaal ka aadmi tha.”

Continuing, he said, “Ab usko banao, koi nahi rok raha. Baat yeh hai ki jab log gali bakenge na, ki yaar yeh bahut hi kharaab, bahut hi galat film banayi hai dekho, yeh bol raha hai ki maar dena chahiye, yeh saari cheezein ki arre, dekh toh Hitler ko support kar raha hai. Ab aap is baat pe victim nahi ban sakte. Jitna aapka haq hai freedom of expression, utna hi doosre ka bhi hai. Unless and until woh kisi agenda ke tahat ho raha ho, tab problem hai, tab main usse disagree karta hoon.”

Zeeshan Aayub On Films Propagating Violence

Speaking of such films further propagating violence, the actor said, “Main baat karunga aapse, kyunki maine Kabir Singh toh dekhi nahi hai, main Arjun Reddy dekhi thi. Main aadhi se zyada dekh nahi paya tha. Imaandari se bolunga, mujhe first half mein maza aa raha tha kuch-kuch cheezon mein, ki haan, bada badiya sa hai. Par beech mein mujhe laga, yaar yeh kyu? Kya zarurat thi? Yeh abhi kyu kiya? Aise treat karne ki kya zarurat thi iss character ko? Main already woh character live kar raha tha, right? Toh bhaiya theek hai, mujhe nahi dekhi gayi, maine band kar di. Ab baahar jaake chaati peetne ka mere hisaab se koi matlab nahi banta.”

Zeeshan Aayub On PR Tactics, Name Calling After Animal

He said, “I think important baat yeh hai bhai ke aap na apne samaj ko itna padha likha banao ki unpe is film ka koi impact hi na ho pehli cheez. Dusri cheez, yeh bhi hai ki yeh jo sawal hai, ke is tarah ki filmein banni chahiye ya nahi, yeh bhi valid hai. Par yeh sirf isliye nahi ki abhi woh PR ka zamaana chal raha hai, jo zyada news mein aa jaata hai, ussi pe baat hoti hai. Again, name-calling nahi, ismein bahut saare log involved hain, main sirf ek director ki baat nahi kar raha hoon.”

Zeesha On Films Propagating Hate, Hate Speech

Zeeshan said if you are propagating hate via films, it is not something one can call freedom of speech. Further adding, he said, “Yeh jo uska absolute freedom wala concept hai na — mujhe pata hai, yeh bahut debatable cheez hai. Lekin yeh Malcolm X ne bola hai. Kai log bolenge, ‘Arre pata nahi kya samajhta hai yeh,’ but Malcolm X ki statement hai ki agar aapki speech mere basic existence, mere survival, meri community, meri identity ko demean karke khatam karne ki baat karti hai, toh saheb yeh freedom of expression nahi hai, yeh hate speech hai. That is what we need to be careful of. Film us tareeke se soch ke banai jaani chahiye, ki agar woh hate speech ke level pe ja rahi hai, agar aap keh rahe ho ki saamne wale ko survive karne ka haq nahi hai, toh it is problematic.”

Zeeshan Aayub On Film’s Controversy

Concluding, the actor said, “Toh, I hope aapko samajh mein aaya ki main kahaan se aa raha hoon. Main aur yeh main jaan-boojh ke band kiya tha, yaar. Yeh ek aadmi wala jo tha, abhi pichhle dinon mein hua, main naam leke bol diya. Aadmi samajh hi nahi raha. So it’s not about this film. Usne film release kari, us director ne apni marzi se film banayi. Jo bhi game hua, PR ka game hua, kaise hua, woh pareshaan bhi huye ke humare saath yeh hua, par film blockbuster ho gayi. Woh paise kama ke shaanti se chale gaye.”

He added, “Woh ek aur aisi bana denge. Phir usse controversy hogi, phir paisa kamaayenge. Unki life toh aaram se chal rahi hai. Yahan main aur aap baithe unko discuss kar rahe hain, toh hoga kuch nahi, balki agli baar paanch log aur chale jaayenge film dekhne. Toh naam pe jaane ka koi matlab nahi hai. Idea yeh hai, if it is propagating hate speech, toh humein apne samaj ko is layak banana padega ki woh usko identify kare, samjhe, aur roke, ki yeh nahi hona chahiye. Aur usse affect bhi na ho. Yeh bhi ek important cheez hai. Theek hai?”
