EXCLUSIVE: Zeeshan Ayyub Reveals Dhanush’s Struggle With Hindi During His Bollywood Debut Raanjhanaa; Says, “Unko Raat-Raat Bhar Baith Ke…”

Zeeshan Ayyub was Dhanush’s co-star in his Bollywood debut Raanjhana. The actor recalled how the Tamil star learn Hindi for his first film. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Zeeshan Ayyub revealed that the writer of Raanjhana helped Dhanush rehearse his lines in Hindi. He draws parallels to that experience of working in the Tamil film DNA.

Zeeshan Ayyub On Dhanush Learning Hindi For Bollywood Debut Film Raanjhana

When asked if language while filming is an important element, then how did Dhanush shoot Raanjhana, to which Zeeshan Ayyub said, “Yaar, I think woh na ek Dhanush ki skill hai, yeh alag level ka hai, jo great se bhi upar chali jaati hai baat. Actually, yeh jo performance usne Raanjhanaa mein di thi na, because maine abhi ek Tamil film ki hai, isliye ab aur behtar taur pe samajh paa raha hoon. Theek hai? Mujhe toh Tamil bilkul bhi samajh mein nahi aati. Matlab kuch logon ko hota hai na, ‘Achha mujhe ginti aati hai,’ ‘I love you bolna aata hai,’ ya ‘mujhe gaali aati hai’, mujhe kuch bhi nahi pata Tamil ke baare mein.”

The Raanjhana actor shared, “Maine ek film ki, yaar. It’s like, aapko na kuch samajh mein nahi aa raha. Aap bas sound yaad karte ho. Theek hai? Which again becomes very difficult. Ab jaise maine bola, ‘baat yeh hai ki,’ toh yeh toh naturally aa jaata hai. Par woh ‘yeh ke hai’ ho sakta hai, because sound kaafi baar aap miss kar jaate ho, right? Jo mere saath ho raha tha. Toh woh bechare, khair, bade acche log the, jo lip movement dekh ke bolte the, ‘Haan haan, isme dub ho sakta hai, let’s take it forward.’ Aisi hi situation mein Dhanush ka, unko raat-raat bhar baith ke yaad karna.”

Zeeshan Shared How Writer Himanshu Trained Dhanush In Hindi

The actor said, “Toh Himanshu, jo writer hai, Himanshu Sharma, bechara woh record karta tha, baar-baar uske saath baithta tha. Dhanush use yaad karta tha and exactly waise hi yaad karta tha, because tone bhi Banaras ki thodi alag hai. Theek hai? Toh woh ek sing-song wala jo pattern hota hai na, jo har jagah pe hota hai — khair, Banaras ka alag hai. Woh pattern tak woh yaad karta tha, ke kahaan stress hona chahiye, kaise hona chahiye. And at the same time, he is emoting. It is such hard work, very difficult. Bahut zyada mushkil kaam hai yeh.”

Concluding, Zeeshan said, “Kyuki maine abhi karke dekh liya, toh mujhe samajh mein aa raha hai, yeh alag level hai. Ek hota hai, ke kam aati hai aapko bhaasha, toh aap adjust kar lete ho, thodi mehnat zyada karke. Jab aapko pata hi nahi hai, now his Hindi is much better, right? Abhi-abhi hum mile the, woh 12 years of Raanjhanaa hua tha, toh usme mulaqat hui thi. Toh yeh waala zikr maine kiya usko. Maine bola, ‘Bhai, immense respect, bhai, alag level pe chali gayi hai!’ Toh bola, ‘Haan, ab toh main thoda phir bhi samajh paata hoon, lekin us time pe bilkul nahi aati thi, toh pata nahi kaise kiya yaar.'”
