6 reasons why we are waiting for Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor’s ‘Half Girlfriend’
Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor's perfect chemistry
Shraddha Kapoor has been paired with the top actors of the generation, viz. Shahid Kapoor, Tiger Shroff, Varun Dhawan, to name a few. However, none of these could match her exceptionally romantic chemistry with her 'Aashiqui 2' co-star Aditya Roy Kapur. However, seems like her pairing of Arjun Kapoor is going to beat her pairing with Aditya Roy Kapur, on the scale of hotness. If you still don't believe after watching the trailer and songs, let the movie do all the convincing.
The magic of 'Phir Bhi Tumko Chaahunga' and 'Baarish’
As we had predicted, the music of 'Half Girlfriend' has turned out to be a chartbuster, with Arijit Singh's 'Phir Bhi Tumko Chaahunga' and Ash King's 'Baarish' ruling the charts. Even apart from these two favourites, the other songs from the soundtrack carry their own charm and melody, to suit each and every emotion of the heart. A plethora of the finest composers have come together for it, and Mithoon, Tanishk Bagchi, Rishi Rich, Farhan Saeed, Ami Mishra and Rahul Mishra have created something magical, together. The team of lyricist comprises of Manoj Muntashir, Kumaar, Kunaal Vermaa, Arafat Mehmood, Tanishk Bagchi, Laado Suwalka, Anushka Shahaney, R. Rekhi, Veronica Mehta, Yash Anand, Yash Narvekar and Ishita Moitra Udhwani, and their words have woven a magic, melting into the music. After mesmerising our souls with the audio, it will be a treat to watch these songs on the big screen.
A visual treat
By now, those who have read the book, and even those who have not, must have figured out by the trailer and songs that Madhav (Arjun) and Riya (Shraddha) meet in Delhi, and their story reaches New York, where it eventually ends. From the trailer, we can gauge that the movie is going to be a visual delight, with the locales being so beautiful, lively, and picturesque. It will be a treat to catch the same on big screens.
The unique concept, ‘Dost se zyada, Girlfriend se kam'
Written by Chetan Bhagat, the novel of 'Half Girlfriend' explores the relationship between Madhav and Riya beautifully, and the same can be expected from the movie too. The special thing about the book was that it instantly found a connect with the youth who could relate to this relationship form, which was neither here nor there. The dilemma between friendship and relationship was penned down amazingly and that is what we are expecting to see in the movie too. "Dost se zyada, girlfriend se kam, aakhir Half Girlfriend hai kya?"
Shraddha-Mohit and Arjun-Chetan; two hit jodis together
'Half Girlfriend' will witness two hit jodis working together to make this a hit venture, and no, we are not talking about Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor. Instead, we are talking about the first jodi of Arjun Kapoor and Chetan Bhagat, who have given a superhit '2 States' in the past, and the second jodi of Mohit Suri and Shraddha Kapoor, who have tasted success with 'Aashiqui 2' and 'Ek Villain'. When these two hit formulas come together, the box office is surely going to be on fire.
'Half Girlfriend' may put a halt to the 'Baahubali 2' tsunami
It has been three weeks since the release of Rajamouli's magnum opus 'Baahubali 2 - The Comclusion', and the effects of the same are still not wearing off. Such has been the tsunami of 'Baahubali' that none of the Bollywood ventures have been able to sustain in front of it, till now. It will be interesting to see if 'Half Girlfriend' can halt the giant. In fact, we believe that it can bring a break, what do you think?
6 times when Bollywood celebrated ‘Womance’ a la 'Veere Di Wedding'
6 times when Bollywood celebrated ‘Womance’ a la 'Veere Di Wedding'
In Bollywood, the term ‘Bromance’ has been explored in several films like ‘Dil Chahta Hai’, ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’, ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’ among others. But very rarely we come across films that celebrate ‘Womance’ which is the female equivalent of ‘Bromance’. Shashanka Ghosh’s ‘Veere Di Wedding’, female buddy comedy film starring two of the hottest female stars of Bollywood, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Sonam Kapoor along with Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania is the latest offering which celebrates female bonding like never before. Though we don’t have an out and out ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ kind of film focusing on female bonding yet, Veere Di Wedding seems to be a step in that direction. As the trailer of this “Not a chick flick” was unveiled today we bring you 6 films which showed us how female bonding is not just about gossiping, shopping and chilling; it is much more than the usual friendship. These films talk about how there can be no bond as strong, special and unconditional like a bond between female buddies.
Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury’s ‘Pink’ showed us how women don’t think twice when it comes to fighting for their friend’s right and dignity. The film showcased how Minal (Taapsee Pannu), Falak (Kirti Kulhari) and Andrea (Andrea Tariang) together were a force to reckon with when it came to fighting against the affluent boys who couldn’t take ‘No’ as an answer to their sexual advances.
Unlike male buddy films, the films concentrating on female bonding mostly revolves around solving serious conflicts. This Leena Yadav directorial talks about four women living in a village of Rajasthan. In the film, one fine day, they decide to free themselves from the clutches of age-old traditions of patriarchy, physical and mental abuse.
'Angry Indian Goddesses'
Pan Nalin’s film depicted the bond between a close-knit group of females like never before. The best friends reunite to catch up and celebrate the wedding announcement of one of their friends. While having an impromptu bachelorette the girls go through a roller-coaster ride and thereby address many serious issues.
How can you forget Vijayalakshmi (Lisa Haydon) and Rani’s (Kangana Ranaut) endearing friendship in this Vikas Bahl directed comedy-drama? Despite being poles apart Rani finds a true friend and a guide in Vijayalakshmi, who eventually helps Rani to overcome her grief and find her true identity. I guess every girl needs a friend like Vijayalakshmi in her life.
Veronica(Deepika Padukone) and Meera(Diana Penty) too had very little in common but once they formed a deep bond, their unconditional love for each other gave us major friendship goals.
Rajshree Ojha’s 'Aisha', an Indian adaptation of Jane Austen’s novel Emma showed us Aisha’s girl gang bond over fashion, food, boys and everything you can think off. Which girl wouldn’t love to be a part of such girl gang?
