There have been hordes of actresses marking their debut in Bollywood, but only a few manage to make their mark in the industry. After a short stint in the world of entertainment, they vanish completely from the scene. And one example of such actresses is Madhoo. Niece of Dream Girl Hema Malini, Madhoo was signed by action director Veeru Devgan for his son Ajay Devgn‘s debut in the film ‘Phool Aur Kaante’ in 1991.

For the uninitiated, here are some unknown facts about the actress:

Not many know that Madhoo had even done anchoring of famous show ‘Chitrahaar’, a television program on DD National featuring song clips from Bollywood films. However, her stint as an actress started when she was a child. Madhoo, as a child artist used to work in South film with the name Baby Madhu Malini.

Madhoo was also trained in Bharat Natyam by her mother Renuka, who passed away when the actress was only 13 years old.

She has worked in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, and Kannada language films too. Her acting career spanned from 1991 on to 2002. In Hindi cinema, after ‘Phool Aur Kaante’, she is also remembered for her role in ‘Roja’ co-starring Arvind Swamy and many more.

Madhoo tied the knot with businessman Anand Shah on 19 February 1999.

She has two daughters Ameyaa Shah and Keia Shah.

Actress Juhi Chawla is her sister-in-law, as Madhoo’s husband is the first cousin of Jay Mehta (Juhi Chawla’s husband).

In 2013, Madhoo Shah along with Tanishaa Mukerji was seen in Divya Palat’s play ‘The Verdict’. The play, that also starred Dalip Tahil, Vivaan Bhatena and Aditya Hitkari. The show was a courtroom drama.

When Madhoo’s husband Anand Shah faced a loss in business she sold off the family home and repaid the investors a huge amount of Rs. 100 crores. The company was kept closed for a period of six months and they were unable to pay the salary of the employees too.

Though Madhoo has gone through trying times she has not given up. The actress soon made a comeback on the small screen and was seen in a historical drama ‘Aarambh’ which aired on Star Plus. The show has now gone off-air.

She also made a comeback in Tamil with Balaji Mohan’s ‘Vaayai Moodi Pesavum’. After going through a long sabbatical, Madhoo will next be seen sharing screen space with Bobby Simha in his upcoming film, ‘Agni Dev’.
