Veteran Telugu singer G Anand has passed away on May 6 due to Covid-19. He was 67. Popularly known as Swaramadhuri, he was admitted to BN Reddy Nagar Hyderabad as he was diagnosed with Covid. As per reports, his health condition started to deteriorate and his oxygen level dropped to 55. Due to lack of oxygen, he succumbed to the deadly virus.

Anand lent his voice for Yeliyallo Yeliyallo for Chiranjeevi’s first film Pranam Khareedu. Chiranjeevi took to his Twitter handle to mourn the death of the singer. He paid a tribute in a statement that read: “I am shocked to learn about the demise of Shri G Anand due to Covid-19. I have danced for the first time on the big screen for a song sung by him, and it has established an unconditional bond with him. His demise is a sad thing that stays with me for a long time. My condolences to his family.”

“Rest In Peace Sri. G.Anand Garu!,” he wrote as he shared the statement.

Music composer Devi Sri Prasad also condoled the death of Anand. He tweeted, “Deeply saddened by the sudden demise of Senior Singer,a Humble Human Sri.G.Anand Garu..In d beginning of my career, he invited me 2 a few of his Stage Shows as a Special Entertainer..I can never forget those lovely moments

G Anand made his singing debut with America Ammayi movie in 1976. He crooned the hit song Oka Venuvu Vinipinchenu. Some of his hit songs are Vithala Vithala Panduranga Vithala and Dikkulu Chudaku Ramayya. He also sang for Pandanti Kapuram and Chiranjeevi’s Pranam Khareedu. Apart from singing, he was also a music director and his works include Swathanthryaniki Oopiri Poyyandi, Gandhinagar Rendava Veedhi, and Rangavalli.
