Anthony Ippolito To Portray Young Sylvester Stallone

Anthony Ippolito, known for playing Al Pacino in The Offer, has been cast as a young Sylvester Stallone in the upcoming biopic I Play Rocky. The film will follow Stallone’s inspiring journey while making the classic 1976 movie Rocky, showing how he beat the odds to bring his dream to life. The movie will be directed by Oscar-winner Peter Farrelly (Green Book) and produced by Toby Emmerich and Christian Baha. The script was written by Peter Gamble. Production is set to begin on October 15.

Ippolito didn’t wait for the role to come to him. He took matters into his own hands. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, he made his own audition tape and sent it directly to the producers. His bold move worked, and he was chosen to play Stallone in the film.

Stallone himself reacted positively to the casting. Sharing Ippolito’s picture on Instagram, he wrote, “Filming starts October 15, and I wish them all the luck in the world. It’s a wonderful script! Keep punching, Kid.”

The original Rocky movie was a huge success and won the Oscar for Best Picture. Stallone wrote and starred in the film, which kicked off one of the most successful sports franchises in history. The Rocky and Creed films have earned over $1.7 billion worldwide.

Ippolito’s past work includes Purple Hearts on Netflix, Pixels (2015), and Not Fade Away (2012). He received praise for his performance as Al Pacino in The Offer, which explored the making of The Godfather. Meanwhile, Stallone will next appear in season 3 of the hit crime-drama series Tulsa King.
