brits awards 2022, adele,

The BRIT Awards 2022 are back with a bang. The prestigious event was hosted by comedian Mo Gilligan. He also made history at the BRITs tonight as the first Black British host. The biggest names in music, Ed Sheeran and Adele started the night by wowing fans on the red carpet. The awards night was broadcasted live from London’s famous O2 Arena.

Adele led the winners by taking home three awards at the prestigious ceremony. She received the award under the categories of Artist of the year, Mastercard album of the year and Song of the year. While the first two awards were for her album, 30, the other one went for her song Easy on Me.

This was Adele’s third win for both album and song of the year. She previously won album of the year for 21 (2012) and 25 (2016). She is also the first solo artist in Brit history to win this award three times. Moreover, she’s only the second artist following Coldplay, to win this award with three consecutive studio albums.

Olivia Rodrigo and Dua Lipa were also among the top talents that won BRIT Awards.

Four new genre categories were added for the first time: Alternative/Rock Act, Hip-Hop/Grime/Rap Act, Dance Act and Pop/R’N’B Act – which fans were able to determine via a TikTok vote.
