Tom Cruise arrived for the screening of Top Gun: Maverick at the Cannes Film Festival. Tom Cruise and Jennifer Connelly arrived for the high octane premiere with eight fighter jets zooming above the event.

The actor and the Top Gun team received a standing ovation at the venue leaving him quite emotional. An emotional Tom said, “They all worked so hard to bring this to the big screen, and it’s a dream to be here. I’m never going to forget this evening.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter,  Tom Gun: Maverick team’s entry included eight fighter jets zooming above the event, expelling smoke in red and blue to match the colours of the French flag. After the film’s screening, the audience responded with a six-minute standing ovation that moved Tom to tears.

He was also awarded the prestigious Palme d’Or award at the event by festival director Thierry Fremaux. In honour of his long-running career at the centre of international pop culture.

Thierry also introduced a 13-minute clip reel that showcased every entry in Tom’s filmography.

At the screening, Tom Cruise walked the red carpet at Cannes with Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski, producer Jerry Bruckheimer and co-stars Jennifer Connelly, Miles Teller, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Jay Ellis, Danny Ramirez, Greg Tarzan Davis and Lewis Pullman.
