The highly anticipated and renowned Primetime Emmy Awards revealed their nominations for 2022 last night. This year’s list was expected to have a few surprises and some iconic landmarks, and the nomination list delivered that. The biggest scorers of the night were Succession, The White Lotus, Ted Lasso, Dopesick, Barry, Squid Game and Only Murders In The Building.

In the drama category, while Succession topped the list with 12 nods, the biggest landmark came with the South Korean series Squid Game that became the first non-English show ever to make it to Emmy nominations. The show bagged 7 nods including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for Lee Jung-jae, Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for O Yeong-su and Park Hae-soo and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for Ho Yeon Jung.

There were some unexpected snubs this year as well. Amongst the biggest ones was the exclusion of Selena Gomez from the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Only Murders In The Building. Also, snubbed was the family drama This Is Us, which ended this year with its sixth and final season. Sterling K Brown and Mandy Moore were expected to bag the nods in the lead category respectively with the show making its entry for the last time in the Outstanding Drama Series, however that wasn’t the case.
