Deepika Padukone

Makeup Theme: Ethereal Enchantress

Deepika Padukone oozed sexiness in all the appearances at Cannes. The highlight of her makeup was dramatic eyes done up in aqua greens and blues. Shh! What was her well-kept beauty secret? When you are going for dark eyes, keep the rest of your face subtle and your hair off your neck (preferably) to let the eyes do all the talking. Here’s how you can achieve her look.

For your face: Firstly, cleanse, tone and moisturise your face to prep your skin. Opt for a dewy foundation to make your skin glow. Dab a highlighter on your high points to draw attention to your best features. Deepika Padukone used the L’Oreal Paris True Match Lumi Powder Glow Neutral Illuminator (Pink) to get the flawless look for her fringe red dress. She has also used the L’Oreal True Match Lumi Liquid Glow Illuminator for her pre-red carpet look.

For your eyes:  Dippy’s golden rule: ditch the conventional neutral eye shadows and eye pencils. Since her makeup is mainly focused on the eyes, it’s a good idea to use an eye primer to make the colours stand out. Once you are done with selecting the colour of the eyeshadow, cover your upper eyelid to the crease with that shadow. Then, use a thin liner brush and start applying from the inner corner, and then extend it into an exaggerated stroke covering your whole eyelid. Deepika opted for the L’Oreal Paris Infallible Silkissime Eye Liner in True Teal for the green Brandon Maxwell gown. Use a smudge proof liner so that your makeup stays put. Finish off with multiple coats of mascara. Dippy used the L’Oreal Paris Volume Million Lashes (Extra Black) for her red dress and L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Superstar Mascara for the green gown.

For your lips: Get rid of dry flakes by using a lip scrub first. Finish the look by applying a creamy matte lipstick so that your lips are played down. If you want to get her bold, ombre look she sported with the purple Marchesa outfit, use the rich color L’Oreal Paris Tint Caresse in Plum Blossom.

Sonam Kapoor

Makeup Theme: Blush Queen

Makeup artists created a dewy, blush-themed look for Sonam and took colour cues from the pinkish-red family. Kapoor added elements of subtlety and sophistication to her beauty looks. To prevent too much saccharine, the lady opted for fiery nails for most outfits. Here’s how you can achieve her look.

For your face: Before you get started with the base, hydrate your skin with a moisturiser for a smooth look (we can’t stress this enough). Use a corrector to take care of dark circles and redness (Sonam has always had a hard time covering up her dark undereye circles), and then disguise with a concealer. You could use a little bit of highlighter to make your features look more prominent when the arc lights hit your face. Finally, dust the face with a translucent setting powder. Sonam Kapoor has used the L’Oreal Paris True Match Lumi Liquid Highlighter (Rose) for some of her looks.

For your eyes: To make sure your eye makeup stands out, work on your eyebrows using a brow pencil to fill in any gaps and to define the arch. You could start with a nude shadow as your eye makeup base. Then use a light bronze shade (L’Oréal Super Liner Gel Matic Pen in Deep Brown) right up to the crease to add more depth. Next, use an eyeliner and add a couple of coats of mascara to finish. If you want to add more drama to your eyes, use false lashes and then add a dash of mascara.

For your lips: For an understated look, use a nude lip liner and fill your lips with a soft pink/peach lip colour. Sonam used the L’Oréal’s Color Riche Moist Matte in Cherry Crush for her press conference appearance. Add feminine charm with a shimmery gloss — you could go for a transparent one or a similar blush shade she opted for the golden gown (L’Oréal Glam Shine Gloss Brilliance in Hold On Rose).

For your nails: While Sonam kept her rest of the look elegant, she used striking nails to break up the calm. You can choose something like the fiery L’Oréal Color Riche Le Vernis Exquisite Scarlet colour to achieve her pink Elie Saab gown look.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Makeup Theme: Intense Goddess

Living up to her ultimate diva image, Aishwarya walked the red carpet looking like a royal princess with sparkling beauty. Last year, she shook the fashion world with her purple lips, and even this time, she rocked the festival with intense lip colours. Must say, the lady was all game for experimentation with her makeup at the Cannes Film Festival 2017. Here’s how you can achieve her look.

For the face: Prepare your base with a rosy tint and your are good to go. Keep the face makeup natural with no overdose of a foundation or a concealer. Ensure that the face highlight (True Match Lumi Highlighter Liquid in Rose) is just the right amount required to see that glow.

For the eyes: For the eye makeup, the lashes need to be prominent just like Aishwarya. Seal the look with L’Oreal Volume Million Lashes or Superstar Mascara. Also, apply a nice coat of black eyeliner (The Superliner Black Lacquer eyeliner from L’Oreal or Super Liner Gel Intenza Profound Black) and keep the waterline almost bare. For the Cinderella-like blue gown look, keep the eye shadow really nude; just a little amount can be used to add a slight color.

For the lips: The bold aspect of all her outfits was the sexy lipsticks she wore. She sported amazingly dark-hued lips like purple, orange and fiery red. You could buy the Color Riche Moist Matte in the shade Orange Power, Color Riche Moist Matte in the shade Black Cherry or the Color Riche Moist Matte in the shade Brown Sucre, for getting her sultry siren avatars right.
