Teri Baaton Mein Uljha Jiya Review

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the new hot thing and has become quite a big deal in today’s world. People who have created AI are replacing manpower with technology to make a better world. But the question is can robots take over humans as well? The answer is YES. Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya shows the confluence between the human world and AI. Though the concept has been explored way back in 2011 with Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer Robot.

Well, TBMAUJ brings out the same concept but with a different storyline which is unique and fresh. Yes, people will draw similarities with the TV show Hamari Bahu Rajinikanth but apart from the girl being a robot, there’s nothing in common between the two.

TBMAUJ is about a man who falls in love with a robot and wishes to get married to her. This concept is so surreal that it tells you that we are not far from the day when humans will prefer robots for higher compatibility so that they can cancel out topics like cheating, drama, trust issues, toxicity and more. Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon starrer is an entertaining watch but also drops subtle hints on humans + AI and relationships.

Story

Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya delves into the unconventional love story between Aryan, a gifted robot engineer and SIFRA, an exquisite humanoid android crafted by Aryan’s aunt. As their bond deepens, the film skillfully explores the complex dynamics of love and the challenges of acceptance and delves into the intricacies of navigating a relationship that transcends traditional expectations and pushes the boundaries of conventional romance.

Highlights of TBMAUJ

Screenplay: Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya starts on a low note but it picks up the pace in the second part when the entertainment quotient kicks in. Given that it is a love story between a human and a robot, it takes you through a roller coaster ride of emotions. Directors Amit Joshi and Aradhana Sah deserve commendation for their bold vision and daring approach to tackling themes that are seldom explored in mainstream cinema.

Visuals: Every frame of the movie is glamorous and vibrant and somewhat a bit superficial too. It looks rich and visually appealing. A movie that needs to be watched on the big screen as it is a visual treat. Their costumes and their lavish lifestyle oozes glamour. Yes, Kriti and Shahid’s wardrobe needs to be stolen as they are so vogue. Superficial because we also get to see some advanced technologies making us feel we are living in 2050.

Music:

The songs of the movie have to be one of the highlights. The music of “Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya” has struck a chord with fans and quickly become a favourite. It is catchy and peppy. With hits like “Laal Peeli Akhiyaan,” “Akhiyaan Gulaab,” and “Tum Se,” the film’s soundtrack has captured the hearts of listeners. But watching the songs in the theatre only enhances your experience and takes you to a different level.

Kriti Sanon’s performance: She is the first female robot in Bollywood movies and Kriti is fantastic. Sometimes, it can get a little difficult to act robot; however, she did it with so much ease. Kriti is one of the beautiful robots anyone can ever see and she played her part so well. Though in some places, it seems like she is losing touch, she still overcomes it bravely.

Drawbacks of TBMAUJ

Editing: Certain things could have easily been chopped down as they felt dragged and overstretched. A little editing would have done wonders for the movie, especially in the first half.

Climax: The end of the movie seemed a tad bit underwhelming. Everyone knowing about SIFRA’s identity could have been shown powerfully and engagingly.

Star Performances

Shahid Kapoor mesmerizes with his captivating portrayal of Aryan. With his exceptional talent and depth as an actor, Kapoor brings a magnetic energy to the character, effortlessly drawing viewers into Aryan’s world. SK’s soft-boy era is much relevant even two decades post his debut! Ishq-vishq be like!

With elegance and depth, Kriti Sanon captivates viewers as she brings SIFRA to life, exhibiting the delicate nuances of her character. She looks stunning in every frame and pulls off stellar performance as a robot. This marks her range as a versatile performer by all means.

Dimple Kapadia as Aryan’s Maasi and the creator of SIFRA is mind-blowing. Her sassiness and her intelligence are quite commendable.

Supporting cast

Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya is further elevated by the presence of a stellar ensemble cast. The legendary Dharmendra brings his immense talent and experience to the role of Aryan’s wise and supportive grandfather. Additionally, the performances of Rakesh Bedi, Anubha Fatehpuria, Rajesh Kumar, and Raashul Tandon contribute to the multi-dimensional nature of the film. Their performances add layers of complexity, authenticity, and realism to the film, making it a truly memorable cinematic experience.

Conclusion

Upon the release of the film’s trailer, curiosity surged among viewers as they were intrigued by the unique love story between a robot and a human. It is indeed an unprecedented tale of love, making it the first of its kind. As the film is in the cinemas, it has exceeded the expectations of the audience. We must say the scintillating chemistry between Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon proves to be a victorious combination in the film.
