Nadaaniyan Review
Life is unpredictable, and things rarely go as planned. However, focusing on what truly matters is the key takeaway from Nadaaniyan, a film that marks the exciting debut of Ibrahim Ali Khan alongside Khushi Kapoor in a refreshing and heartfelt love story.
The film follows Pia (Khushi Kapoor), a bold and spirited girl from South Delhi, who, despite her elite background, struggles with personal chaos and seeks validation from her friends due to a misunderstanding. Her life takes an unexpected turn when she begins fake dating a determined middle-class boy from Noida (Ibrahim Ali Khan). As their contrasting worlds collide, they embark on a journey filled with mischief, heartfelt moments, and the innocence of first love. Nadaaniyan beautifully explores themes of love, self-discovery, and relationships, blending romance and drama with a visually appealing and emotionally engaging narrative.
What Works
Khushi Kapoor and Ibrahim Ali Khan’s on-screen chemistry is all natural and refreshing, making their characters relatable. The screenplay keeps the audience invested with its emotional depth and lighthearted moments. The film boasts amazing cinematography, capturing dreamy backdrops that enhance its romantic appeal. The soulful soundtracks such as Ishq Mein and Galatfehmi complement the narrative, adding depth to key emotional moments and perfect screenplay.
What Doesn’t Work
While engaging, the story follows familiar tropes of romance and self-growth, offering little novelty. The second half feels slightly stretched in some portions.
Technical Analysis
Nadaaniyan is well-shot, with impressive cinematography and smooth editing. The background score blends seamlessly with the narrative, adding emotional weight. The romantic drama excels in its production values, with soulful tracks and seamless editing. Important moments are made more powerful by the background score, which intensifies emotional beats.
Star Performances
The debut of Ibrahim Ali Khan will remind us of young Saif Ali Khan; his powerful and subtle nature showcases a strong on-screen presence and a rising star that would lead to more romantic films. On the other hand, Khushi Kapoor delivers a charming performance, portraying vulnerability and strength with ease, especially in some emotional scenes with her parents; she leads the screen.
The mothers Mahima Chaudhry & Dia Mirza bring emotional depth to their roles, portraying pivotal characters gracefully. While the fathers, Suniel Shetty and Jugal Hansraj, provide lighthearted moments, balancing the film’s emotional tone. Not to miss Archana Puran Singh as Ms. Briganza recreating her Kuch Kuch Hota Hai magic with the twist of GenZ lingos is just remarkable. Lastly, a strong cameo by Meezaan Jafri that added energy to the narrative leaves a mark in a key supporting role. Other supporting characters, Apoorva Mukhija and Aaliya Qureshi, played their parts well as per the storyline.
Conclusion
Overall, Nadaaniyan is a charming romance drama that gains from its new lead duo, Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor, along with a captivating plot and stunning screenplay. Despite taking a well-traveled route, it is nevertheless worth watching because of the performances and emotional depth.
