Salman Khan: Hollywood is making better films

Salman Khan is known to be the greatest crowd-puller in Bollywood. We are too used to his films being frequent blockbusters. But when it comes to Hollywood films threatening business of Bollywood, even Khan has to admit that Hollywood often beats us from the qualitative aspect.

In a conversation with Mid-Day, Salman was asked what he felt about Hollywood eating Bollywood’s business. He answered, “No one can eat into anyone’s market. Hollywood is making better films. You can’t say logon ko samajh nahi aayi; aapko samajh nahi aayi ke unko kya dekhna hai. Make watchable films and people will go to theatres.”

Now that makes a lot of sense. In an earlier conversation with the media, Akshay Kumar had the same thing to say. “You can’t compete with Hollywood in terms of money. You can only compete in terms of content,” he said. The only possible way to give Hollywood films a run for business in the Indian market is to come up with better and far better content.

Well said, Salman!
